*** As of this video Lucky Irishman is working on a modification for the [[Gen 1]] Gasblock due to a radiused section (not present on the Gen 2s) preventing one of the parts from fitting correctly.***

Since mine is a Gen 1 he has asked for measurements but ill be out of town..So if you order this Handgaurd and run a Gen 1 RFB work with him to get the measurements from underneath your gasblock.

I don't like the fact that the end of the ejection chute is visible on the left front. It's not visible with the factory handguard.
Eh.. It doesnt seem to hurt anything..But im sure metal taken from their kept the weight down to just barely more than the shorter polymer handgaurd

It’s my understanding that with this rail installed you can’t remove the charging handle? If that’s true I need to purchase the bigger tactical RFB charging handle and install it before the rail install correct? Does the rail make it harder to break down for cleaning? Thanks in advance.

While I’m at the rail install do you guys go over all the screws with loctite like you’re supposed to with the RDB?
Uh as for loctite..No.Its not an issue on the Rfb and def dont do that with the new handgaurd..

I believe I covered some of this in my video in this thread...Well except this last part..

You can remove the charging handle on with the LI Rfb Handguard but you'll need to dremmel off some material towards the back end of the "ears" keeping the charging handle secure
(Between the back Tower section and the left or right side of the Li Rfb Rail ear..Shouldnt take alot of material.)..

I didnt need to do that in my Gen 1 Rfb but you will with yours (assuming its a gen 2)

Cleaning is basically the same as the Rdb after the install of the LI Rfb handgaurd (because this is a part you dont disassemble after install).
You can still access and take out the bolt on the Rfb for cleaning and your piston. All the really does is make it so you can't drop the front part anymore (not that I really ever did) for cleaning. But everything is still acessable to be cleaned

As for loctite I meant the blue not the red. Nick at Keltec was telling me to do that on the RDB but I didn’t think to ask about the RFB. I try and blue loctite anything I can that has a potential to back out over time. Thanks for the quick response. I’ll most likely dremel the rail as you stated to still be able to take it out if it’s ever needed.

The only reason I might need the charging handle to come out and the metal bolt carrier assembly with it is to clean or service my gas piston. As stated in my vid..Mine is captive.

On a Gen 2 Rfb thats not necessary as its held in by a spring in that carrier assembly.

Q: What kind of riser would be best to install at the front end of the Lucky Irishmen guard for a MBUIS/BUIS?

Also just a general comment: Nice to see a video of the set up for a 18" RFB. The LI site left much to be desired on pics availability.

Rich is a maker not a photographer lol :p

Looking at mine..
1 inch section of pic rail is almost Tall enough.I dunno if you can find differing heights on rail sections..
It actually might be on a standard RFB top rail (mines an aftermarket). Even on mine..Im pretty sure Id have enough adjustment to cover the minuscule difference (or maybe a very thin shim) in height between my top rail and the on on the front end of the guard.

Thanks. I thought there might be a tried and true go to somebody might be running. I am sure I can rig up something.

Q: What kind of muzzle/barrel shroud are you running on your weapon? It looks very cool, how does it sound?

Yeah, sorry about that. I really need to find a web guru who can clean up my website, it's kind of morphed into something that's a little unwieldy, my apologies.

Uh.. The Blast deflector is from Indian Creek Designs..You know for when your in a stall with folks nearby and dont want any aggro shooting a muzzle braked 308..How does it sound...Um..Im not sure how to answer that.

The Muzzle device is a SJC Titan..But it might be replaced by the Ultradyne Apllo S (Maybe..18inch RFB and 40 degree vents on brakes are not good combinations..)

FWIW this handguard was a bit cooler than the RDB to shoot for a while. I suspect it has something to do with my natural hand hold being out in FRONT of the ejection chute with a normal C grip rather than right on the gas block which is where my hand falls on the RDB (right around the gas block).

May have just been me.

Agreed. Not keen that it's exposed, either.

That being said, I'm interested in buying one, but will wait for more opinions and actual pictures of it installed on an 18" model. Appreciate the video odinforever2000, but it's hard to get a good idea of what the handguard looks like.

So..what angle of the handgaurd are you not seeing to not get a good idea of what it looks like?

Constructive criticism is fine but at least provide what your not seeing or want to see.
