what is the latest serial numbers shipping from the factory for the 3AT's
I want to make sure I am getting a recent one NIB

#2 ·
I found this  using search
"P3AT, serial # "JCQxx", was made on May 15, 2007"
now assuming 1000/week for 33 weeks, so just add 33,000 to that one (JNExx)

Here you go, you can calculate how many were made since the one know. assuming 1000/week has been the average production
JCQ00=>43,200

The Kel-Tec serial numbers are a modified 34base. The KT system doesn't use "I" and "O" since they would be confussed with "1" and "0". Also the two least significant places are base 10.
the first charector disingates what model
"J" for P3AT around fall 2006
"P" for PLR16
"A" for P11
"R" for PF9
"C" for P32

JFB... I love the way you do the numbers!

The rest of us numerically impaired non wizards should probably call Kel-Tec and ask the sweet lady that answers the phone if she can tell us the birthday of our guns!

If you want a " newer gun date" (Although I am not sure why) just ask that same sweet lady what serial numbers they were building yesterday.

I really does not matter what day you call her, still just say "What numbers were made YESTERDAY."

Thank you for the info. The no. is 014## to me the firearm would have been made In week no. 2.
I did buy it on (1-11-04).I did hope it was one of the first and it is .
Geo.
I see what you mean. We usually use "X"s to denote numbers we're not giving out. For example, my 1G P-3AT is 0027XX. I got it in Sept. or Oct. of 2003. It was the 2,7XXth P-3AT made. The serial numbers are no longer consecutive unfortunately. If yours is 014XX then it would have been made in the summer of 2003.

Is the second digit always a letter?
No

The Kel-Tec serial numbers are a modified 34base. The KT system doesn't use "I" and "O" since they would be confussed with "1" and "0". Also the two least significant places are base 10.

Or in other words, The last two are always a number, the first three are numbers and most letters

a little confused
what is the latest serial number someone has bought?

reason i ask is that there seems to be more 3ats made by shootingindustry numbers than what the serial numbers are stating

i assume that when you convert the serail number to the exact number that gives the total made as of that serial number
shootingindustry reports a lot higher number of 380s

you probally are calculating The total made since J0000.  Rember before that that was the Hxxxx's up to HZZ99 (HZZ99 equals 115,599).  and before that there were some just plain number serial numbers
