I'm trying to decide on a pocket holster for a P3-AT HC. I'll be working in NOLA (hot, sticky, humid, miserable, etc.) What do you gentlemen recommend?

I recommend the one I just received...Guru Dave. Plain and simple. Easy to use. Feels and looks like you are wearing a wallet in your back pocket. And best of all, the day passes by and you will forget you have a gun in you pocket as the gun weight is very light.

But I work in stores with A/C...

You might want to stay away from leather in the conditions you describe. Maybe a kydex pocket holster ?

I have seen (heck I own) a lot of holsters and from what I have seen no one does the art work of leather holsters better than Kevin and K&D. Good quaility leather like he uses, treated properly, will stand up to some of the worst elements. They are expensive and there is a wait - both are worth it.

In the low cost, high functioning range this is still one of my absolute favorites and I keep going back to it depending on my need of the day:

Just a comment...I priced all of the leather holsters I saw on KTOG when I got my KelTec, and I found the K&D pocket and 2 'n 1 to be some of the least expensive...my CCW instructor had one for his P-3AT and swore by it. I'll be ordering one soon.

That said, right now I have a pocket holster that works quite well, that is not leather (and thus should survive a little better in your environment). The Desantis Nemesis for the P3AT works quite well. Not complete print resistance, but it is easy to draw, sits securely in the pocket, and is what, about 10-15 bucks? Not a bad pocket holster, as long as the pockets are roomy enough to not be tight.

My father in law has an Uncle Mikes pocket holster, and he hates it because it falls over in his pocket, due to the shape. The Desantis (as well as most listed on here) has a stiff, flat base for it to sit in the pocket so it doesn't flop over.

Also bear in mind, K&D holsters will take some time! Lead time is listed at 10 weeks currently. If you go with them you could always pick up a cheap commercial one to use in the meantime. I'm only about 2-3 weeks into my wait...

That one in your pic is the one I use. Has the space for the extra magazine and works great in dress/Khaki pants as well as jeans and shorts. ;D

Notice the first draw...   just the 3AT.. second draw the nemisis comes with it... the third draw... just the gun.   If I do not "pinch the gun with my left arm, the holster pulls with the gun.

(I just got the shirt and nemisis holster today...  so please ... easy on the criticism.  I am a sensitive guy you know.)

For $10 bucks the holster (outer of fuzzy part of velcor) , two velcor strap with a snap to hold over the gun,  and a hard loop covered piece.

They are detachable, and you can set the holster at any angle on the hard board.  (I am not using the strap.) I placed a few stiches in the holster so that a spare mag and the gun snug right in.

The tactical pouch set up also conceals better and the gun pulls without any trouble.  No need to pinch it under my arm to keep the holster form coming out with the gun.

A bonus... the velcro board and the holster can stick on a lot of surfaces, like the truck seat, and the visor to name a few.  I have yet to take and post photos of this, but for me it was a great buy at $10 even if you do not have 5.11 clothing.


My favorite at the time.  It fits perfect in the hidden pocket of my 5.11 shirts,  does not shift around, and does not bother me when sitting down.  Also, perfect for driving in the car.

+1 works great in a cargo pocket can't beat the price. Guaranteed for life just like the gun.

Thanks, y'all! Lots of good looking rigs. So far, I'm leaning toward Concealed Concepts Pocket Pal, or Grandfather Oak's Pocket Companion. These, being Kydex, might be better in the New Orleans summer heat. I may also order a K&D for cooler weather.

Where's the best place to buy the 511 shirts?

I found the best price at Midway USA. I order stuff from them on a regular basis and find their customer service reliable and friendly.

The only problem is they do not keep many of the short sleeve XL 5.11 shirts in stock. I don't know about the other sizes.

I recently ordered several in various colors knowing they would have to backorder. I called them before I placed the order and they told me probably 30-45 days, but could not promise. They do not charge your credit card until they ship.

They usually have a few Khaki colored in stock.

If you order the shirt, I would encourage you to get the holster set up with it...
