Or even, where to get on a waiting list?

I have been watching for years now without finding one for sale (without paying some obscene gouger price). People at all the LGSs won't offer to set up a waiting list...and there are a LOT of stores in Ft Worth. I'm getting kinda tired of this.

Anyone got some useful advice?

I got mine at a San Antonio area Academy a few months back for near the current MSRP. Recently within the past couple of weeks I've seen Sub2ks again at a few of the area locations. I can only assume Academy stores in other Texas area markets have and or are still getting them as well. I really think you should look into your local area stores. The one closest to me will take names and numbers and give you a call when stuff comes in. Not sure if all locations are willing to do the same. Can't hurt to ask. Sounds like Kendive's also given you a great lead to look into.

Good luck with your search.

In the greater Daytona Beach area...I seem to find Sub2000's in about every 3rd gunshop I walk into. One shop in particular always seems to have 1-2 of them.
Prices seem semi reasonable...I'll put it this way, I paid more when I bought my 1st gen on Gunbroker.com...and was happy.

The shortage is over do not be tricked into paying too much. There are listings after listings on the gun action sites for $550 up that are not moving. I paid less than $400 last year for my gen 2 at the lgs. They seem to have one or two in stock about half the time lately. Get on the phone call the gun shop in the next town over. I see no reason why you can't find one at a reasonable price if you dig a little bit.

Welcome to the KTOG forum. Some have paid more, and some less. Congrats or your purchase. Enjoy it, and I hope you enjoy being here. Phil.

They still seem next to impossible to find in Maryland. Most local shops have very long waiting lists. I've not heard of one locally below $500.
Kel Tec may want to reconsider their distribution policies. Seems like a large share of the newest hard to find models end up in a few hands that then scalp everyone as long as possible. Of the three that I had interest in , pmr30, ksg and the sub they all end up being available at outlandish prices from FEW places for the first few years of production.
It certainly would be a bit more work for them to oversee the distribution. Think about it, go ahead and charge 15 percent more, tighten up QC a bit and get the guns to the consumers without allowing scalpers to take control of the lions share. It would pay off in the long run.
Kel Tec makes innovative stuff that nobody else does but they just can't break out of B squad. If they want to step up to the next level they need to address those two issues. Distribution and QC.
I'm going to get some coffee...stepping off my soap box.
