I'm trying to find an FFL willing to work with me on getting an RDB into California.

I'd pay full retail + shipping, send them a grip fin and an extended brake, they'd install the parts and then ship to my FFL.

It's hard enough to find an FFL with an RDB, let alone one willing to deal with California crap... any suggestions?

Just spit balling, maybe try contacting some of the FFLs on gunbroker? At least you know they have them in stock already, ask if they would make the requested changes if you use their "buy now" option (or maybe try to arrange something outside of GB)?

Trying to find an FFL that would make the changes, but doesn't have any in stock, may leave you waiting until it's all too late.

They're very hard to find for a reasonable price there.

I could buy one on Gunbroker and send it to a middleman who charged $250, I'd rather not spend quite that much though.

Sounds reasonable to me. A lot cheaper than moving, which I was going to suggest.
God bless you. I've spent some time with people that live out there and I can understand why psychiatry is a booming business with all of the headaches they have to endure.
When I bought my RFB, I gladly paid $500 over MSRP.
They were almost impossible to obtain and after getting it, I could understood why.
Hope the RDB is that good.

I'd just google it - There's a lot of middlemen services out there and should be fairly simple to find... I did a search and a bunch of links came up.

I found an FFL who is willing to, now he needs to figure out if he can get one... he said around $1000 which is a lot less than I'd been afraid of. I think that's before the custom brake he'll be making me but I'm not positive.

I know here in California they won't let FFLs with Dangerous Weapon Permits buy AWs in order to convert them to non-AWs to sell to normal people, I don't know if NY is the same or not.

I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for family (and work), and hope to move before too much longer.

I paid $1900 for BNIB but pre-owned RFB and I'd love to find an RDB for essentially retail. It has some upgrades too (charging handle, butt pad kit, and then the compliance stuff).


I talked to someone else who is using a well regarded middleman and the guy is just SWAMPED. He's had the gun 4-5 weeks with no communication... so I'd need to find a different middleman.
