Now that I straightened out my question on purchasing a SU-16C what do you guys/gals suggest I add on a flash hider or muzzle break.

Pros and cons of each?

Thanks
How are you going to use it, and what do you want to accomplish with a muzzle device?

I am using a linear compensator. It ,to me is not a function of recoil, rather a function of noise and blast mitigation. With a linear comp the muzzle blast and a large amount of noise is sent downrange not in the shooters face.HTH Doug

The Miculek compensator is cheap, and super effective. But, it's super loud, and I could feel the blast with the stock folded on my su16. The linear comp isn't effective recoil wise, but the sound and blast was way better. Rifle moved a lot more with the stock folded than with the miculek.

Depends on what your application is, a flash hider is nice if you are having to use yoir su16 at night, but otherwise it's just aesthetic appeal. I would personally go with a muzzle brake (that's brake, b-r-a-k-e) preferably a fortis control shield that cuts down on the noise and avoid blasting the neighbor bench with hot gases whenever I'm on the firing line.

Currently I'm shooting with neither on, probably will put on an A2 just to protect the threads. My muzzle shroud seems to work self loose, one of these days I might lose it altogether

I recently got a Strike Industries J-comp. I haven't installed yet, but it is supposed to have great recoil reduction and ok flash suppression. For the price of $33 shipped, seems to be a good value. Hope to test it out soon.

The standard M16A1 flash hider (slots all the way around) or three prong are some of the most effective flash hiders out there. As far as muzzle brakes, Custom Muzzle Breaks.com had a compact Tactical Tri-Delta Brake that is incredibly effective for $39! Unfortunately, it is discontinued. I run one on my AK (14x1L threaded) and one on my AR carbine.
