Just wondering what your P3ATs like ammo wise? I just acquired one recently, as back-up for my 1911 .45 and for times it's simply not practical to carry my 1911. Has anyone tried the Browning BXP Personal Defense X-Point .380 ammo? I bought a box but haven't got the chance to get to the range yet.

Hornady critical defense....no issues with any of my pistols in 4 different calipers. Even the scratched up edc rounds that have been reloaded into the chamber 10 times or more during daily carry, always go bang, never had a feed issue.

I'm a Gold Dot guy in .380, mainly because my P3AT would cycle it even when I had a broken extractor. It's slick, expands reliability and penetrates 10-ish inches in gel.

Don't bet on it. I did bet a guy on this forum that my P3AT would function without its extractor when fired. Took my extractor out replaced the spring, loaded one mag with one round and the other with six. It wouldn't extract a single round. Had to push them out with a pencil. I know a blow back pistol will but the P3AT is a locked barrel. I didn't loose any money but did loose bragging rights.

BTW my carry round is the Magtech Guardian Gold 85 grain. Can't say it's any better but thought I might need the lighter round for more speed in that 2.7" barrel.

I wouldn't actually chance it but I was speaking in relative terms The only failures of any kind with my P3AT were during the brief time that my extractor was chipped. At the range, when it happened, the Gold Dots still cycled but nothing else would. I was just saying that the disproportionate reliability under those circumstances is a comforting thought. I immediately replaced the extractor and have been trouble free since.

I am really starting to look at the underwood extreme defense projectiles either from them or from lehigh ammo for both my .380 and .32 pistols

People hate on them, but I have found the buffalo bore to work as advertised. Its hot.

I love the *bullet design* of the critical defense but its loaded too light. I haven't looked but if that stuff ever comes in bullet-only format, I may hand roll some defense ammo around that platform.

pretty sure you can get those, hornandy website makes it look like you can get them. I believe the critical defense are the FTX bullet? I'm sure one of our guru re-loaders here will correct me if I'm wrong. I'd love to reload but being married w a toddler.... gonna be a while before I get to take on that new "hobby"...

Don't understand at only 200'lbs out of a short barrel everybody's logic . I prefer solid round noses for feeding reliability and heaviest bullet weight for penetration . You only shoot at a naked threat when you hunt animals . Expanding bullets slow down on the first thing they hit and were not talking about how good it preforms on ballistic gel or a naked ham . If you don't believe me than try with a few things in front of your target if they will get through . Carhart coat and coveralls or small town phone books will open your eyes . Hole in and hole out will let the blood out .Get a .357 125gr if your looking for most 1 shot percentage's just empty your 3pat pea shooter on them then if that doesn't work throw it at them . Mine is my most favorite open carry and can have at battery and emptied before most can even get out . I just have to be careful on shirt ,belly , or jacket making concealed carried .Posted on here with pic of holster and its better than the accessory clip they sell .
