I really like the Su-16. I like how light it is. I like how compact it is. I really like how reliable it is. I like that it just kind of tosses shells out in a small pile about 4 feet away.

The one the thing I wish for is that it it had an metal upper and lower receiver. Could be stamped. Could be milled Aluminum. I just wish it was made of metal.

And as long as I am make silly wishes I wish the trigger and hammer pins where a little bigger.

Metal? On a rifle?? Keep dreaming grampa!

Seriously kidding. Would love to see (at the very least) aluminum reinforcement plates on constant impact area and (ideally) an aluminum replacement chassis for the innards (while we're dreaming let's make it a bullpup chassis). Would add marginal weight but immeasurable durability. 100% with you.

The whole idea behind the gun is it is a Lightweight Carbine which will fold and fit in a Back Pack. It was NOT designed to be a Front Line Battle Rifle.

If you want a metal Bullpup, Kel-Tec makes one or two.

Metal of any kind used in the receivers of the SU16 would both add to the Weight and add to the Cost.

Aluminum reinforcements are not necessary as the gun has metal in all the places that need to be metal, like the barrel and the bolt and gas tube. The rest all just holds those things together.

Mine is my favorite Carbine. but I still had to build this just to give the finger to CA Politicos.

It is essentially a metal AR and weighs 7 lbs. My SU16 weighs 6 lbs. with two loaded mags in the buttstock.

Note: the similarity between the Fight Lite SCR and my KT SU-16CA.

That has already been done with beretta's ar70. There were some imported before the assault weapon ban=$$$
I fail to see what benefit more metal would add to the su-16 except more durability against hard use. The benefit of not having more metal is its 5lbs maybe less naked.
