I like the pic of the kids in the welder's helmets. NASA says welder's goggles with a #14 or darker filter are a safe item to use for viewing the eclipse.

we're about 35 min outside the zone of totality and were planning on camping out for it, but had to cancel as I have a business flight that day.

Traffic is going to be freaking insane.

I sure am hoping all goes my way as well. They sell little eclipser paper glasses in Walmart , They look kind of like the 3d style. Except you cant see your hand in front of your face. It would be an awful trick to replace the lens's with black paper. 1001226203_2_644x461_solar-eclipse-glasses-for-viewing-the-eclipse-add-some-photos.jpg 4619429995.jpg GlassesRear.jpg AllAmericanEclipseGlassesOnWhite.jpg AllAmericanEclipseGlassesOnWhite.jpg

It may be worth mentioning that pointing any unfiltered camera directly at the sun for very long will likely damage/destroy it.
I'm sure multitudes will just hold up their i-doodle to watch/record it:eek:.
Be interesting to see how many phones get sold:oops:.

I'll be visiting St. Louis with the family to see it :D and spend some time visiting St. Louis itself.
And it seems like we got our travel reservations just in time, prices of hotels on/near the eclipse line are now multiple times more expensive!

lol.gif I'm certain there are some people when they heard that the moon would be sliding right across face of the sun are expecting a lot of scrunching and screeching.
It's ok, they will catch it all on their iphone:Do_O.

I hope the continental breakfast is still included with that!

We paid slightly less for a night in the Chateau Lake Louise lodge in Banff NP. No continental breakfast included with that one though.

When I was a child viewing the eclipse,
We simply held a piece of cardboard with a small hole in it. Then you hold your hand in the shadow (or use the ground) and "watch" the spot where the sun shines through the hole.
    I remember being impressed!
