How about adding a test area somewhere on this board accessible to members only.  The area could be used to test techniques in posting images, polls, links and so on.  That way threads are less likely to get messed up and members can improve their posting skills.  The messages could be deleted after they have served their intended purpose.  Or, is there such an area already?   ???

    Re: Test Area  for members

This thread works for me. I'm always hesitant to add too many stickies (we have plenty) and there aren't a lot of posts in this forum so this thread should stay on page 1. If it falls off we can bump it back.

    TEST AWAY!

Just testing to see if my avatar thing works. Only took me 3 days to figure it out.

Dude, are you trying to post a picture, or just a link to one?

There's a tutorial in the admin area on pic posting. If you've already read it and are having trouble, walk us through what you are doing.

    :)

Just post a picture. I printed the instructions and read the several times. I'm just not any good at this stuff. I'll get it right eventually. I'm still in the slide rule era.

    How about this?
    1.  You click in the top link of your picture, and this highlights it.  Right click and "copy".
    2.  Go to your post.
    3.  Place the cursor in your post where you want it, and click so it is blinking.
    4.  Look at the small icons above your window, bottom row, 4th from the left is a picture.  Click on that.  This will put 2 bracketed "img" thingies where you had your cursor.
    5.  Go BETWEEN these 2 brackets, right click and "paste".  This should put the link to your picture between the 2 img brackets.
    6.  Hit preview below, instead of submit, and it will show you what your post will look like.
    7.  If you like what you see, then you hit submit.

Don't give up on it! ;)

I see what is happening now. I got the same red x because I copied the URL they gave you on the site. Change IMG code to img, lower case, and it will work.

This is with the IMG code
