So, ive given up on the RDB becoming available. Should I just go ahead and plunk down the extra cash for the the battle proven Tavor?
(I woulda put this in the RDB section, but thought might get more traction here...)

I've been comparing the two and other than being well proven I think the RDB is better. The trigger is better from the side by side comparisons I've found. It's truly ambidextrous with the downward ejection. Also I'm sure the KT warranty is better.

I've shot a Tavor and it is a very nice gun but I'm going to wait and order a RDB this winter or spring.

Yes. The warranty is why ive been patiently waiting. Cocoa is a lot closer than Tel Aviv.
I have also shot the Tavor. I like it. But the price is a bit steep.
Also consider the AUG.
And I saw another thread here that quotes Keltec facebook saying that production numbers of the RDB have been cranked up.

I just got rid of my Tavor back in May. I had no problems with it, but I didn't like the fact that because I had a left handed model, a right handed shooter couldn't just pick it up and operate it the same as I could. I also hated the trigger. I thought about buying one of the Super Sabra trigger packs but was hesitant to sink more money into the rifle I had already spent a fortune on.

So I took it to a local shop and walked out with a OD Green Gen 2 Sub2K and an acceptable amount of cash. I decided to fill the Tavor's spot in the safe by building an ARAK 21. Still waiting on the ARAK upper to come. It's been a little over 2 months since ordered. FedEx actually tried delivering it Friday but required a signature and I wasn't home.

Hunt at the gunshows and ask the people running the tables even if they don't have one there, that's how i found mine as they had it at their shop a couple hours away. There's also the MDR which i looked at and hold promise i think but other than the feel not sure what i personally think of the tavor.

Gosh, I remember all the wringing of hands over the availability of SU-16. Then, the same thing happened with RFB and KSG, while the SU is on every 3rd table at a local show.. It's not the end of the world, really.

What I find ironic is how someone at Kel-Tec, maybe George himself, tried to improve the original Tavor's magazine release. But the cunning Israelis went ahead and changed everything again on X95, away from the FAMAS-style release to a regular button (well, 2 buttons). That's how you "change the game". This made RDB look obsolete, at least in this little regard. I'd still buy RDB over X95, if I wanted a bullpup. I'd just pay a little extra.

If you're looking for an RDB call Dave's Gun Shop in Drums, PA.

570-788-5518

I am not affiliated with his shop, but I did all my business there before I moved out of the area. He has been able to quickly get anything I've asked him to order me and the price is always better. He will ship to your FFL as well. He explained to me that he is kind of on the top of his distributors list when it comes to special orders so he can get his hands on hard to find Kel-Tecs quite easily. About 4 years ago he got me an RFB within 6 weeks when any other gun shop just laughed at me. I posted in the RFB forum and another KTOG user from Texas contacted him and was able to get one too.

Think that's a good bit of advice to know in general :D
