Hello,
I have a Sub 40(old metal receiver) and I do like it and the way it shoots.
Today when I took it apart for cleaning, the recoil spring guide rod came apart into two pieces. One fits inside the other. There doesn't appear to be anything to hold them together except friction or maybe the hollow tube was slightly tapered in.

So, can someone tell me how to put this back together and make it stay? When I get it together, I can just about get it reinserted into the buffer tube, when it comes apart and won't let me push it in.

Thanks!

This has come up before, but I can't remember the solution. Search the forum.
Well, I searched the forum and only found info on the wire type, 2 piece, paper clip looking guide. I have the steel rod in the steel pipe type. Here are some pictures of mine.
If you have a link to something that would help me, please let me know.
Thanks.

I have the wire kind and successfully disassembled/reassembled it. Does the rod 'hook' into the tube somehow or is that the question?

The rod is like a piston. When it reaches full extension, it feels like it catches on the mouth of the tube. There were no small, extra parts that fell out when I took it apart. I was thinking that I could insert the piston part and then swage or peen the opening so that it would not come back out. No reason for it to ever come out.
What do you think?

Call the factory for a replacement/upgrade.
This happened on Friday afternoon after they had closed for the weekend. I filled out a service ticket. Hope to hear back from them on Monday.

Had to help a friend order a single spring for a P3AT a couple of weeks ago. Spring was an inch long and cost $4. Shipping was over $10. Would have fit in a small padded envelope and shipped for a dollar. Hope I can get a replacement for mine soon. The factory would not sell him one over the phone. Said he had to order through the website. Seems like they try to make things difficult. Or they are making a huge profit on shipping.

Quick follow up. After they had the spring for 10 days, I emailed them. Spoke to a really nice lady who said it had not gotten to her desk yet. When I told her the spring had been there for 10 days, she said then I'll get you one out today. 3 days later I had my spring. It was the new style spring and was much stronger than my old one. My reloads still function with the new spring.

So, had I ordered a spring on the website, I would probably had it in 3-5 days. Since I wanted a free one, it took about 2 weeks.
