Has anyone used a Red Dot/Scope mount that is cantilevered out to the side or perhaps swings away from center-bore to allow continued use of the folding barrel?

I do.
I use long scopes on it too. No issue with folding.

Nope! I just wish I had an outdoor range to really test it at. The indoor one maxes out at 25 yards.

It appears some of the offset cantilevered type might not clear the barrel.

Sure thing. The 45 Degree Angle M-Loc mount is the key to that setup.
It raises the scope/red-dot away from the barrel enough that there aren't any issues with closing the rifle. Also makes the sighting a bit easier and more comfortable because it raises it up some.

The one I purchased was off of Amazon.com, it's not the best but it's accurate and didn't cost me an arm and a leg.

I took all the pieces apart and separated them for use in standalone.
So I have an additional Red-Dot I don't use, A laser I don't use, and the Main Scope I always use.
