I've seen a lot about adapting the FN FAL quad rail, the KT compact forend and the Red Lion handguard. What other options are there? I was hoping to keep it light, and have a rail on the top.
I just replace my fore end with the one made by Red Lion. I bought the version with no rails. It did not change the mass of the rifle or the balance. Without the rails it was like 120 dollars. It is very well made and is looks and feels great.
Many folks on here, and I believe rightly so, believe that the RL forend has a heat sink effect on the barrel, especially when installed with thermal compound. May be an added benefit to owning one.
