I am working on a Star PD for a friend. I'm going through and polishing the internal and the slide, etc. I am looking for the right weight recoil spring though. The factory spring is just 16lbs! This gun is basically a compact 1911. Officer models come factory with 20-22lbs springs. So to me, it makes since that recoil spring for the Star PD should land somewhere around the 20lbs mark to prevent premature wear and lengthen the life of the factory installed recoil buffer.

Am I off the mark on this? My buddy is itching to get his gun back.

I would guess 18 to 20 be pretty close
Iam trying to remember .I think I have a 20 in my officer and 22 in my defender.

Gunsprings says factory is 12 lbs. They also offer extra power in 14, 16, 18 & 20.
