I'm sure you've noticed the rash of SPAMMERS over the past 72 hours.  There were a couple of pill pushers and a pile of porn purveyors that have kept me busy.  Thanks to you who PMed with links.  We also have a thread in the mod forum where we are trying keep track and bomb them out of here.

I know some of you wonder how it is that they can post.  Well, believe it or not, I am only here about 8 hours each day.  I do have to sleep, and unless you guys start taking up a huge collection, I still have to keep a day job.  :)

Raymor has the forum pretty well defended against bot registrants and we haven't had issues with those in quite a while.  Generally, the bots can plaster their crap in multiple posts in all forums in a very short time, so I think these are individual spammers that actually took the time to do the registration process and made a couple of "posts".

I'm not sure why this sudden rash of incidents.  I am guessing that it may be somehow related to the new url (thektog) you see in the News Banner, as this just seems WAY to coincidental to me.  I sent Raymor a message yesterday.  We'll see what turns up.

Meanwhile, if you see something that doesn't belong here, PM me with a link. As soon as I see it, I'll be on it like a duck on a June bug.

If I am sleeping, at work, or otherwise pretending to have a life, be patient, let me know, and ignore the spam.  Posting in those threads only attracts others, which of course is what they want.  If their stuff was totally ignored, they wouldn't bother posting.  I would certainly never click on any links posted by spammers.  Aside from going straight to hell, you run the risk of infecting your computer with something that penicillin won't cure.  :D

I thought I saw one posting that said 95 % of all email is spam! I think it was Kim Komando Show; a pretty reliable source...

I do think "Scumbags" is a appropriate label!

I think I just deleted over 300 posts... manually. >:(

Until I can get to the bottom of this and plug the hole, user-registration is disabled.

Thanks to all who helped, and of course TxCajun especially.
I've added a feature to the board which should make it much
less likely for it to happen again.
