i went to a gun show down in Manatee Co. today. Just south of Tampa St. Pete. Anyway the largest gun store in the area of course was there with the largest selection. They always have all the Keltec guns on display. I have got to say if I was buying the p380 or p32 I would not have been considered if I didn't know better. All the examples they had were new guns and all looked beat to hell. Rusting barrels, scratched looking blueing, just looked dirty and cheap. How much work is it to oil and rub off the rust? Not only that but they wanted from $289-350 for them. I offered the guys at Shoot Straight Tampa $225 and they acted insulted. I said the gun has rust! Well it will polish right off he says. Yeah maybe so but this is suppose to be new and it looks like it sat in your truck for a week with the windows down. They all come from the factory like that, he tells me. If this is true I find it hard to believe.

I know its not how they come. Plenty of vendors there with the same guns looking as they should for less money. Still not close to Buds and I sure wish I still lived in Ky. If I could have found as p32 for under 240 I would have bought one just to have. Tons of junk under 200 like the Jimenez guns for $139. Man are those things HEAVY. Guess when it didn't work you could always beat the criminal to death with it.

I was at shoot straight apopka saturday. Was looking at the sig 250. It was on "sale" for 429 with a tag of 650. MSRP is 450. Funny guys up there.

My brown gun came pristine from CDNN. Then i scratched the disassembly pin head, but that's another story :/

Ok to be fair I bought a SD 9mm that had a tag for $459 and after I told them I was going to buy from buds for $299 they met the price. I could only get them down to $350 before I told them no thanks. They will deal but you have to push for it. To many people just pay the sticker price.

$5 call-in fee? They charged you to do a NICS check?[/quote]

Dealers in Florida are charged the $5 fee by the state...from what I hear they are allowed to pass it on to the customer...some dealers do, some don't.

The call goes thru the FDLE, they do the actual NICS. The fee goes to the FDLE.

Rebootit, Gun shows are for the newbie that walks in uninformed. The gun shows used to be the place to buy because of the no overhead, not that way anymore. You will be better off finding a local gun dealer that will back up the sale. I think that the guys you talked with at the gun show will be stuck for a long time with those Kel-tecs ;)

I go to the shows for the private face to face sales. Every now and then I find something that I can refinish and sell or trade. What I like are the old beater revolvers that I find once in a while. Nothing like I used to though. For the most part the gun store booths are higher priced at the shows than when you go to the actual store. They may have a few show specials but those will be the high dollar guns and even though they are marked way down they are still high dollar guns to me. If I was in the market for an AR or AK then there were a lot of nice buys though. Ammo this time around was no lower than I get online but always next month.

I looked at one today at a local gun shop here in Pa. for 199.00. I may be going back tomorrow to purchace my 3ed Kel-tec. Two weeks ago we had a gun show locally and I could not find one for less than 250.00. Also there must have been 2000 Ars in the room, all brands represented but all more expensive than you could buy a brand new DPMS across the street at the local gun shop.
