Craptastic.

The descriptive word for the factory trigger is 'craptastic'.
I'm guessing it's subjective to the shooter. Since the Sub2K I bought in 05 was the 1st gun I owned in a long time I was too ignorant to think the trigger was craptastic. While I thought it was a little stiff I simply shot it the way it was and was fine with it.

Of course, and it functions just fine, but some shooters find it's curvature & sharp edge uncomfortable. The ergonomics of the trigger was the first thing I noticed, Tim (MAC) mentions it in his latest review, and now sootch00 mentions it in his video. I came up with 'craptastic' because a ktog moderator informed the the 'S' word was foul language here, but I see that you use it in your signature.

Watch out your comments bro. I tried to interject some humor here and it didn't go over well. If you think you can change the culture more power to you but messing with a mod won't get you very far.

The trigger is not good but this is not a 1000 yard gun. Such is life

Most of us like the culture the way it is. There are plenty of other sites like Arfcom that have witty banter, trolling, flame wars, and a plethora of profanity. This is a family friendly site and I'd prefer that we keep it that way. Not trying to start a fight, it's just the way I see it.

I agree that the sub2k trigger is not the best. But, for a $400 carbine it gets the job done. Thankfully there are now aftermarket upgrades becoming readily available. Those of us that have had ours for a few years had to make do with the stock rifle before all of the upgrades.

Huh...I owned a 1st gen subbie for awhile...didn't think too much about the trigger. It didn't bother me, the rifle was accurate and I didn't get a blister or anything.

The new 2nd gen subbie I now have...the trigger action is a bit better, but same ol' trigger. Again, it doesn't really bother me much...even with extended shooting.

I agree, I have toed the line I think, other than a feeble attempt at humor here and there. There is too much good stuff here for fun and games. I have learned all kinds of things I would not have otherwise.

I tried the shrink tube over the trigger trick after filing the tip a bit to remove the razor sharp edge. Vast improvement for me, as to what my finger looks like after throwing lead down range for a while.

Welcome aboard, KT9mm
Post some pics of your S2K when you get a chance!
Great to be aboard!

I waited 14 month for my S2k. I exercised extreme patience. I used the technique of buying other firearms while I waited. Our little LGS just does not seem to be able to anchor too many S2Ks, especially the G19 FDE model that I wanted. But I stick with them; we need to support the small LGSs or they will all go under and be replaced by the Wal-marts of the gun world.

As to pics, it is just a standard model at this point. I have only had it on the range once. I need some time to hold it, fondle it, get to know how we will work together. Then as I add features, or fight to keep it a bare bones, I can pass pics along.

Just glad to finally be aboard!

H2OMan - I got the initial impression from others on the board that replacing a trigger is no easy task. Someone made me think that when tried, lots of springs, boots, and other stuff will come flying out hitting you in the face. I've done trigger jobs, installed trigger reset parts, and small things like that, but somehow got the impression that messing with the S2K trigger was not worth the effort. Thoughts?

KT9mm, I recently performed a grip, trigger & hammer spring, trigger, and rear sight swap... it was Virgin territory for me, and it really wasn't that bad. Just make sure you have MCARBO's video handy, so you can verify that you have everything where it should be before you reassemble the grip halves. I also installed KT's heavy bolt.

For me, it was definitely worth the money, time & effort. The next time I upgrade an S2K it will be even easier because I won't be swapping grips. Note: spring legs in both close-up images are out of place.
