Need some help.

This is the scenario I am dealing with.

Does not make a difference if a magazine is loaded and inserted or the magazine is not inserted. When I pull back the slide and let it go it stops with about a 1/2 in. of the slide still not fully forward.

I am an experienced hand gunner and I am not riding the slide. No matter what I do it will just not go into battery. If I "wack" it from behind it will go fully into battery UNLESS the magazine is in and it is trying to feed a round. Then tapping the slide from the rear does nothing.

I have about 30 rounds though this gun.

I knew cleaning and lubing it would not fix the description I provided so I looked at the gun closer and used some snap caps to see exactly what was happening.

I found the issue.

I noticed that the firing pin was protruding from the bolt face and the round was not properly seating on to the face of the bolt.

When I installed the Burris plate to mount my optics I must have torqued it down to tight. The firing pin spring lays on the top of the bolt just under the plastic cover.

As soon as I started to unscrew the base plate I heard a click and sure enough the firing pin retracted to where it belonged. I used blue loctight and screwed back on the plate and mounted the sight. With and with a mag (using snap caps) the gun cycled correctly.

Issue solved. I want to thank everyone who responded I appreciate the answers.

Thanks
