O.k. I have been wanting to get one for a while and one guy had one that I could not afford. He wanted 5 and I only had 4. I was already bummed out cause I had to pass up a stainless Ruger Single 10 LNIB just 5 minutes before. The owner would not go below 450. The guy next to me paid that. Now again.

It seemed a bit much and I almost passed the gun cause it was a pimpy nickle one with fancy finger groove wood grips. I asked the guy what else he had. Well, another Ruger, a single six blue, no mag cylinder for 3. Well, I could affored that, but I would onlygive 2. Guynext to me grabbed it. I asked what he was looking to get. He said he needed another compact lightweight auto. He had an XD in .357 Sig that he loved. Something like that. Well, it happens that the other gun I got with the Remington pump .22 was an XD sub compact .40. I told him I had one I just got. He wanted to see it bad cause it was just like the one he already had. I could not pull it out fast enough. He said. "even swap?" I pulled 2 of the 3 mags I got with it out and grabbed the R.I.A. as quick as I could. Both happy.

Yeah Pancho,

Good lookin pistol.

Those RIA 1911s don't get the respect that IMO , they deserve.

I've followed them for quite some time, and If I come up on the right deal, on one in 10mm, Ill be all over it.( or .45 for that matter)

You did good Pancho. As usual .

I had a chance to buy an H&R Handi Rifle in .500 S&W with 3 boxes of ammo for 2 bills. I was thinking to myself that Fido would not have passed it up. Well, I did. I offered the guy a bill for it withthe ammo. He said, "No way!!"

Your right, I would have grabbed it.

the ammo is probably $100.

I just grabbed one , well my wife just grabbed another H&R Buffalo Classic. Special Edition Golden, #84 0f 300 made , with the gold inlaid Buffalo on the receiver. (another 45-70)

She wont let me pay with it until Sep 10th,

That's our 50th anniversary.

Looking good: I've been eyeing either a RIA or Springfield Armory 1911 .45 ACP as my next purchase, just absolutely love the classic look of the 1911. The only complication is that I'm a leftie, but I think getting a 1911 with an ambi safety should be enough to make it work for me.

Are you sure I'm not in your will?:quickkiss:

Hey Blake,

I can leave you the bill,

I'm sure it will still be available, when I'm worm food...;):)

Hey Fido,

Congrats on your 50th Anny. Many more!!!!!!

Our 40th is the last week of August. However, she will not be getting a 2 carat diamond ring. :D
Well, it was a surprise.
She went shopping , and surprised the crap outta me with it.

Nah, I told her she could have anything she wanted , she deserves it , after putting up with me for that long.

I don't think like that..... if it cant do something , I don't have much use for it.:)

Rock islands are great value guns, My full sized 1911 is a great base model with all the "neccesary" extras. The ambi saftey is a little rough on the hands but after a decent break in It runs nice. Unfortunately I'm phasing my .45 out due to my carpal tunnel syndrome hands (too much knife work). Can't shoot it comfortably like I used to. Been eyeballing the rock island mid size 9mm they offer, just wish everyone i see didn't also have the .22 TCM kit too. Any of yall holding on to one and thinking about swapping let me know...just saying.
Removed the silver painted billboard on the slide and blued it, thin profile G10 grips.

Nice find. I picked this up a couple of months ago. RIA Match 45. The trigger was nice but of course I had to make it better. Added the VZ grips and now it's my single stack USPSA gun. Almost at 1k rds with just one failure to feed. But I think it was because of a dirty mag.

i have 3 RIA's, 2-4" commanders and a just bought full size wide body(well 2, one 4" was a 21st b'day gift for my son). all perform flawlessly and consume any ammo i feel them including SWC hand loads. The newest is the wide body and it may be the most accurate of my 5 1911's. At $631 including one mag, a bargain
That target was at 50ft 2-handed and rested with 200gr SWC handloads. I degreased it, did about 100 dry fires, and relubed it and adjusted over travel. With no other work, trigger pull is crisp, and dropped from out of box 6# to just under 4#. I ran a magazine of ball through it (all i had with me) then switched to SWC and had 3 FTC with SWC's in the first 20 rounds, then zero issues for the next 70 rounds. No issues with ball or hollow points.

Right! LOL (laughing out loud). got to love those TLA's(three letter acronyms) :)>

13 rounds in the magazine sure saves a lot of time with changing mag's.
And no more having to listen to 9mm shooters claim that 17 or 19 rounds of 9mm beats 7 of .45. Take that you girly-girl 9mm shooters!

I have an Auto Ordnance 1911 that was made by Thompson, before Kahr took it over. It's really nice, but I never shoot it.
Also hava variant, the Ballester/Molina (Ballerina Molester) as I call it. It uses the same barrel, link, recoil spring, and magazine. Made by the same bunch that made the Systema Colt in Argentina under license. The Balerina Molester story or scuttle but is that the guns where made from the metal salvaged from the picket battleship "Graf Spee," which was scuttled by the captain & crew at the mouth of the Platte River in Argentina after making repairs and hiding from Allied ships in WWWIII. Good story, but not likely. Metal uused was shipped to Argenttina from the U.S. after being purchased by the British to make weapons which were in short supply. It is a simplified version of the 1911. Top end is More 1911ish with the bottom more like a STAR pistol.

And I have a Taurus 1911. This is the second one I had. Both worked just fine, only the first one shot a foot and a half low at 7 yards. It was used like most of everything I have. Later I found out that the sights on many of the Taurus autos were not right. I had several of the polymer guns that shot too low. The previous owner of this one had some Trijicon night sights put on it and a trigger job done on it. It shoots where ya aim it. Ambi safety, beavertail grip safety which I have little use for, and a round hammer. It works and shoots nice with the large sights which the other 3 guns don't have. This one gets shot more often.

Wish I still had some of the ones I had back in the day. Had a couple of Colt Combat Commanders. One blu & one satin stainless. Oh, well, they got sold or traded. There were alot of them back then.

Thanks in advance to the mods if they print my pics again.
