How have some of you set up the RFB for a single-point sling?

I'd start by respectfullly asking what you intend to use the RFB for with the application of this sling? While there is a ton of preference and variety involved in choosing a sling, the use can help clarify the advice.

I would like to know what you guys are using for a single point sling as well. I use a AUG and MSAR bullpens for 3-gun matches and find the single point sling to work the best for me. For those two they have a ring attachment just a few inches back of the balance post but they were made by the manufacturers. I want to try out my RFB in some 3 gun matches so a sling will be a must.

I prefer a 2 point on the RFB. I have a single on my AR, but only because it has a really solid attach point into the alloy frame of the rifle. I experimented a little with the RFB but never found a combination that worked for me. The issue with the RFB is that the pins are set in the plastic lower, so unless you are installing a bolt all the way thru the lower for an eye to attach your single point to, I personally wouldn't trust it. Unfortunately those two rear pin holes are right alongside my face when in the shooting position. The best setup I have seen uses a strap all the way around the gun right behind the grip. Something like that I would trust to repeatedly drop the weight of this rather heavy rifle into. But that spot interferes with my cheek weld. You could do this same thing all the way back near the buttpad, but a single point here might interfere with pulling the pad into your shoulder to shoot. That is where I have the rear of my 2 point attached to(wrapped around the upper frame) but since the sling goes up and over my shoulder at that point it dosn't interfere. Configured like this the rifle stays pretty predictably flat and diagonal across my chest while I draw and fire the handgun...

The single point works well on the AR because it is attaching well behind the CG so the rifle really hangs muzzle down well. The issue I see with the RFB is that a reasonable attach point is really near the CG, but not really, it is actually nearly an inch off to one side of the CG so not only will the rifle fight hanging vertically, it may behave rather unpredictably. Attaching back near the buttpad would allow the rifle to hang a little more vertically(and predictably) IMO.

Last I recall 3gun rangemasters(and observing contestants) get a little irate when a muzzle passes behind the firing line...

Ronmar, I use a 2-point sling also. I find the RFB too heavy for a single point. If I have to move, run, or do anything requiring me to use both hands, the heavy beast swings around too much for my taste. As I mentioned, preferences and situations can be all over the board for the individual.

Personally I don't like single point slings on anything but an AR pistol, SBR, or other short weapon. I got to try out an HK MP5 on a single, and it was pretty good. Two-point slings have gotten so well designed with so much instant strap adjustability that I find little reason for the single. Again...for most of my weapons and situations.

Ronmar, on my 2-point Magpul MS-1 on my RFB, I used that tiny strip of pic rail on the bottom of the buttstock. I installed a 45-degree Magpul QD mount facing left. On the front I installed a Magpul 45-degree QD on the end of the top pic rail facing left. I like the sling points and have had no issue with this setup.

Here is how i attached the rear of my 2 point. This was a test, I very quickly removed the buckle and sewed it in place.

I used the regular front attach point and this is how it hangs. I put a quick adjuster up by my left hand but the only occasion I could see needing it would be if I was using a vest of heavy coat. Slung like this I shoulder the rifle then dropping my left elbow tensions the sling. Setup like this the buttpad stays in the pocket allowing me to use my shooting hand to change mags without dropping out of shooting position...
