Hi everyone, newbie to this forum and Kel-Tec. Bought a new P3AT and a NAA Guardian in .380 also. Have numerous full size handguns from J frame S&W to .45's. These little .380's are not pleasant to shoot at all. I realize they are not meant to be range guns, but is there anything to help tame 'em so my index finger doesn't get beat up with every shot? ???

Smooth the inside of the trigger guard and the trigger with 600 grit.  Try Sprinter's energy absorbing pads and a slip on grip to absorb some recoil.  Get a finger extension.  If necessary, wear a bandaid before you shoot.  These guns are not meant to be shot like your full sized guns.  Break it in with a couple hundred rounds, then just a mag or three when you hit the range to function test and stay proficient.

Also, try holding your trigger finger back a split-second longer after the round goes off. This will help prevent the top of the trigger guard from coming down and slapping your finger during recoil.

Wouldn't it be the bottom of the trigger-guard coming up and slapping your finger?

Or the front of the trigger-guard coming back and slapping your finger?

Or, more likely, both at the same time?

Thanks for all the reply y'all. As I said in my first post, I do understand that these are not range guns, and I'll try some of these suggestions. For it's weight and size, the P3AT can't be beat...I just would prefer that it not beat me  

BTW...Ordered the grips and sleeve, but I didn't see the finger extension for the mags for sale.
Any links to a place where I can get them?

Actually that is part #MZ-FPK which are two for $10, as these fit Kel-Tec magazines with minor alteration found here http://www.geocities.com/PocketGuns/P32ext.html . Or you can use a Bersa Thunder part #48 without alteration http://www.bersafirearmsusa.com/parts_380lt_mat.php. For comparison, the gray grip has a NAA Guardian extension and the black is wearing a Bersa Thunder.

This may or may not help, but I've been shooting my P-3AT with my index finger along the frame, middle finger on the trigger, and ring and little fingers on the grip (that is, until it went for a Florida vacation).

I have never shot another gun this way, but it seems to give me the best grip on this little jewel.

Oh, did I mention gloves?  If you don't want to spring for more expensive shooting gloves, go to Walmart and get some bicycle gloves found in the bicyle accessories department.  They have pads, (some fabric, some gel) in just the right places and while the fingers are cut out, they can help protect your finger some too.

When you take the sand paper to the trigger guard feel the sides of the trigger,they have sharp edges, make the trigger round and smoth like a combat trigger. 8)
