Hello; I have been unable to remove the rear sight on my Gen 2 S2K....I have read all of the stickies and searched u-Tube, but other than one video of removing the Gen 1 rear sight, there is nothing there. The stickies all start with removing the two hex head screws on either side of the rear sight, but that doesn't work, which is where I am stuck. The left side screw comes out fine but the right screw just spins...I have tried re-inserting the left side screw and trying to remove the right side first, but there is no backing it out.
Unfortunately, the instructions sent with my Early folding rear sight begin with "remove the original rear sight", which isn't all that helpful. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

When I installed my combat rear sight from Performance Services, I used this video from MCARBO

So, you can't remove one of the two screws?
Sounds like you should have a gunsmith do the job.
IIRC, the rear sight (axle) pin only installs one direction. Maybe you got lucky and removed the correct side. Try using a punch to drive the pin out. It should come out easily, so if it doesn't move, you have to remove the other screw.

I wrote to Todd, the owner of the company (Performance Services) and discovered that the right side rear sight screw isn't intended to be removed...it actually just turns for the purpose of windage, moving the rear sight left/right. I had been expecting it to come loose altogether like the left screw. The trick to removing the rear sight is to use a metal punch and a heavier hammer to punch the center pin out to the right. At least on the original rear sight on the Gen 2, it's in the rear sight mount so firmly that you cannot pull it loose or twist it by hand. After the rear sight and lower pin is removed, the instructions for the installation of the Performance folding rear sight was pretty straight forward, although you do need two different hex/Allen wrenches to correctly complete the installation. I appreciate everyone's advice.

I am happy that you were able to remove your factory rear sight and install my new rear sight. I must point out that I never told you that the right side screw in not intended to be removed, or that it turns for purpose of windage. Neither the factory sight or my new sight are adjustable for windage. All that I told you was to put pressure on the sight pivot shaft that the screw was removed from while turning the screw on the opposite side clockwise. I have never encountered a sight pivot shaft that would not slide out with pressure on the loose screw side. Unfortunately your S2K must have some unusual molding issues, and other issues as well as I have learned from our long conversation. I hope that you complete the mods to your rifle to your satisfaction, and am available to assist if needed.
All the best,
Todd Jensen
