RDB vs Hellion vs ARs vs AKs

There has been a lot of discussion about the Hellion (mostly by me) so I want to consolidate it into one thread.

What are your impressions of the Hellion? What are its advantages or disadvantages compared to the RDB or even over the AR or AK? Primarily, I would like your opinion on its suitability as a SHTF rifle. (My mind is not made up and I have been re-looking at some ARs as some here have suggested.)

I'll start:

Advantages:
1. More Durable - built like a tank
2. More Reliable - works in hot environments
3. Vetted in a real military combat environment - Any reliability issues would have surfaced by now after years in the combat environment
4. More Accurate ~<2MOA - which would probably be better with better ammo
5. Cool rifle - it looks really like a modern futuristic rifle. Something you won't be ashamed to be seen in the range with
6. Fully Ambidextrous
7. Works perfectly with steel mags, unlike the RDBs
8. Probably designed from the outset to eat thru commie east-bloc steel ammo since it is actually made in the East-Bloc.
9. Appears to be very light recoiling.
.
Disadvantages
1. Price is ridiculous
2. Trigger appears to be worse compared to RDB
3. Heavier
4. Bolt release is sub-optimal
5. Magazine release and exchange is sub-optimal compared to ARs
6. Quite honestly, I don't like the raised picatinny rail that seems to excessively raise the sight too much over the bore.
7. Less flexible gas block setting. Only 2 settings. I like the RDBs semi-continuous gas block settings to precisely control the amount of gas you want.

Become fully ambidextrous (compete in some tournament XBall paintball) and you'll soon find that the RDB makes the AR feel like a relic.

Bought a new RDB earlier this year, took it to the range once & then sold it. Functioned 100%, just not for me. Prefer my AR

We will agree to disagree

I have an RDB and several AR and a couple of AK. While I love my RDB for its ergos and suppressed performance and handling, its a great overall weapon. Suerior to the AR in many ways...BUT...its not THAT much better so as to offset the AR's bullet proof performance and ease of repair\interchangable parts\durability. For a SHTF scenario, and its only 1 rifle...its still a 12" AR for me
I have an ar plus parts etc for shtf but out of all those I’d prefer the rdb over the hellion
FWIW, I finally took a measuring tape to the Hellion. With the stock fully collapsed, LOP is exactly 16". Not 16.5" as previously mentioned. That said, yeah, it's long and won't be for everyone. Interestingly enough though, the Tavor 7 also has a 16" LOP. Not sure why anyone hasn't complained about that...
Whats the LOP on the RDB? Looks like 14? And is that the RDB17?

14.5 on the RDB17 ...14.25 RFB18

I got to hangle a Hellion.
Its well built, much more solidly built than RDB.
But it didn't balance or feel as good as an RDB. Its not smooth.
I think I would prefer a TAVOR for SHTF. I wouldn't enjoy shooting it, but carrying is better, which is what I would be doing 99% of the time.
THANK YOU so much...finding that measurement has been a nightmare.

The hellion is good too. I like longer lop and sure that's the balance issue, but throw a can on it and it'll balance out.

The tavor doesn't have the same ease of disassembly, adj gas and issues with the handguard removal with yhm qd turn me off.
Beautiful picture. Literally couldn't have asked for a better comparison pic.
See the LOP difference and oal... And the VHS2 has a 16.25 vs the 17.3
I wish SA didn't mess with the grip of the original VHS-2, it just looks funky with the grip angled like that
@odinforever2000
How do you like that Crimson Trace?

I like it. Just wish my top rail was longer..
So, the eye relief isn't long enuf?
Perhaps its better on the VHS?
The tavor doesn't have the same ease of disassembly,
One pin to open the but pad and the action drops out.
Two pins and the firing group drops out.
How much easier do you want?
I guarantee you you're not taking an RDB firing group out.

I mean..I make it work fine on the RDB..Just with the rail was longer is all.
Unless its a 1x..most prisms are around 2.5 to 3.5" of eye relief. This one is 3.5inch and a fairly wide fov. I also like the reticle.
Theres a lot I like about the CT. Im actually surprised they were able to make that optic.

Just looking for opinions.
I have a unused 2 MOA green dot Triji Reflex 34 I need to un-ass.
