Here is a quick pick of the rdb and how it stacks against my two SBR's. I will say weight and balance as well ballistics (due to the large barrel) are superior with RDB. I need to take it out to the range and put rounds down range before trusting my life to the RDB like I do my SBR's but so far I am really loving the RDB. If you live in a state where you cannot SBR or have limited funds I would tell you if you have the opportunity to handle all three platforms you will be shocked at how well the RDB feels. Its as short as my sbr's as well give 7+/- inches of barrel.

Sadly, the state I live in requires all semiauto centerfire rifles to be 30" or longer (mostly), so both my RFB and RDB have long muzzle devices. Still, they're the same length as a pinned/welded 14.5" AR with a stock collapsed all the way.

IMO - There should be no SBR rules. They're straight up infringements. Until they're repealed, the RDB is a great option for the reasons you mentioned. Longer barrel with less overall length and great balance. Repeal the stupid SBR rules and we could have a 14" barrel RDB that's as long as a pistol beyond the pistol grip. How cool would that be?

From what I've read, the whole reason for the SBR/SBS restrictions is that they were initially going to require stamps for handguns as well, and they wanted to keep you from making your own. They decided against the handgun part, but kept the SBR/SBS.

In general, restrictions against long guns make no sense. 90% of firearm homicides use handguns. But... people don't care about thousands of inner city youth (mostly black/hispanic) killing each other each year, they care about the few dozen innocent white people who are killed in mass shootings each year.
