RDB Cheek riser?

I occasionally get a crick in my neck when I wonder why nobody has posted anything in here about a re-design of the Kydex cheek rest to accommodate an adjustable cheek rest for the RDB. Now yes, I know that the 5.56 is not what any sane person would call a long distance round. I’d even go so far as to say that in hunting the stars would have to be aligned with the right solar equinox in order for you to make a clean kill at distances beyond 200 yards.

Even so, I still see (feel) a need for a cheek riser at a good height to take some muscle strain off my neck while peering through my scope. Also, it would seem to be a simple thing to design and implement. Unlike the RFB, the RDB cheek rest is held on by 4 screws. I’ve often thought that it would be simple enough to drill my own holes in an existing design- if I found one that offered measurements. That’s why I haven’t tried it yet, I can’t find the right shape and design due to the difference between the combs of most rifle stocks and the RDB. I probably won’t find one that I can make adjustable- although I can envision using long screws, washers, and nuts to design one that would be adjustable.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I'd try a Magpul cheek riser for the CTR / MOE stock. They're pretty affordable and you could probably get one to fit with some modding. https://www.magpul.com/products/ctr-moe-025-cheek-riser

Alternatively you could do what people have done for years on older rifle stocks and use pieces of camping foam to build up the cheek rest, then secure it with duct tape or hockey tape. Not pretty, but effective.

Best wishes! Get well soon!

I looked at that one of those Magpul risers, Matthew Fabrication, and one by Phoenix Technology on Amazon. I’m working on getting measurements to see what might fit best.

Ahhh, duct tape.... Red Green of Possum Lake taught me how to use that.

On that note, I do have some 1/4” adhesive neoprene that I bought to line the inside of the RFB factory case- before I realized that the space KT left me for a scope might not be enough for the scope I want for that rifle. On the RDB, I don’t think I need more than 1/2” of height to make things comfortable.

What's going on with your optic?
Can't bring the optic down?
Most straight stocks put most ppl too high.
Or is this an ergonomic thing? I totally get noggin position, especially shooting around cover. I see pictures of guys with really BA$$ rifles, but their necks tell me three things: they are really sore at the end of the day, they will be slow getting on target, and they can forget shooting with goggles.

At the six second mark in the video below, Keltec shows a higher cheek piece that looks like nothing more than a piece of kydex with four holes drilled into it.

It may also have an internal support, but it shouldn't be difficult to fabricate.

Also shown at the six and 40 second marks are what appears to be a full length mlok aluminium handguard on a 20 inch barrel.

For those interested in a RDB cheek riser, I am working on one that will allow the user to use Magpul CTR/MOE risers. I will be getting a prototype in about a week to test and once final designs are validated, it will be available at danhagadesigns.com

I hope you all like it!!!

Cool deal GWood. Thanks!

[shakes fist] Curses KT!! Why does we not have full length hand guards for 20” RDB rifles? Is it because there are so few left in the world who use 2 pt slings? Because you only made a few hundred pistol grip 20” RDB? Three inches matters- just ask your _________!!! [offtopic]

(Comedy and sarcasm intended)
