Oh yeah! Everybody has to have at least one RAVEN. Ditto on the firing pin thing. Never had one hang up on me, except for one that broke the firing pin. Don't think I would wanna have to shoot anyone with one cause i might just really pizz them off.

Now the Jennings has been spotty for reliability. some worked fine and jus just wouldn't.

Here is one I got unfired, in the box. Nice fake mutha of pimp grips.:D

Gotta have that bling! ;) Mine's an old no-flash Intratec Protec .25. Black on black. Ninja pistol. Sweet now that 10 years of gunk have been cleaned up. No jams or FTFs. It's my bicycling CC. It'll do for now. 8+1.

Btw, love the Raven. Gotta get me one. :p

:DI remember the Intratec Protec. Never had one, but I hears they were good. One real lemon of a .25 was theRG Mod 26 IIRC. I could ount on it to fire at least oce. Then you would be better off throwing it at someone. The RG revovers were much better.

Had a chance to buy a Italian Galiesi .25 at the gunshow 2 weeks ago. I had a couple of others that worked great. It looks much the same as the Jennings .22. It was all steel, nickle and pearl grips. The gun had a really stiff pull on the slide. something wasn't right. Guy was stuck on a bill. I would not go more than 40 bucks on it not working. It still was like new, but no deal on that one.

Had to pass a good Colt Jr. .25 a month ago. Buddy had it for sale for 3 bills. I did not want to go over 2. He never got it and swapped it at a show for a Browning BPS. He even gave some boot. He also has a Brownng Baby, a Browning clone and a Colt hammerless .25, bit I will never talk him out of those.

Yeah, got this one at a GS for 125 and found a mag from another vendor for 20. 145 isn't too bad. Have seen them on Gunsamerica and Gunbroker for as high as 275. Someone had a set with consecutive numbers for 550. Heck if I'm spending 550 I'm getting a Kahr. The ITs had a rep for being jam-o-matics, but once I got this one cleaned up my wife's carrying the P11 and I'm carrying the Protec. ;) It's a sweet shooter. I think I'm a .25 guy for fun as I want a CZ45, Raven, Baby Browning, etc.

Don't know what the hub-bub is about weak penetration. I think w/t 45gr FMJ CC rounds it'll do fine. Especially for fair weather clothing. A close grouping of 6-9 shots outta do it. It's an 8+1. Admittedly, it's not a 9 for sure, but I'd rather my wife have that and I can get an LCP or P3AT for the bicycle. The P11 just prints too big. And it pulls my shorts down.

Friends don't let friends carry .25 ACP's loaded.

'Cause if you carry it loaded you might be tempted to use it in need. And, if you do use it AND it actually fires AND you can actually hit what your'e aiming at AND the person you hit with it actually notices that you shot at them; Well, they might get pizzed off and beat the crap out of you.

Seriously, I carried a Raven .25 on a trap line (it's my wifes gun) and never had issues with reliability or accuracy BUT had serious issues with penetration. When you can't put down a possum or a **** with two shots you tend to doubt the effectiveness of the round on a human. Seldom could I get a humane one shot dispatch withe the .25. On the other hand, a .22 mag in a Davis Derringer seldom needed the second shot. I'm not talking about one or two attempts here, this was well over 100 animals in several years time so I believe the empirical results I saw.

I think I had one 45 years ago. I fired it once at the range and the firing pin assembly fell apart. I "re-crimped" it. Fell apart again. Crimped it some more. Fell apart again. The last time, I got fed up and REALLY crimped it. Was OK then but I sold it quick.

I haven't had a chance to fire it yet, can't find and .25 ammo. I'm kinda excited about this little gun. Not something I'm going to fart, but seems like it'll be fun to shoot. Same goes for the Jennings J22.

Respectfully, I laughed with your humor and have deep appreciation for your experience. It's a case of misunderstanding my post, I think.

The 2 aforementioned pistols are all we have available at the moment. For bicycling, of which I do plenty to the distance of 125-200 miles per week the P11 that I purchased for myself is simply too big for fair weather CC on the bike. Cold weather and winter clothing is thick enough to allow me to wear a miami style shoulder rig and CC the P11 in a vertical holster. The SH goes over the 2nd to last layer and under the jacket that's oversized to allow air to be trapped and warmed by one's body. It's got a vertical zipper to allow thermal control. And easy access to the CC should I need it.

Now for fair weather cycling a small clipped leather holster fits perfectly in the small of my back and the IT.25 fits the smaller dimensions of the holster really well. And it's light enough to NOT drag my cycling shorts down nor does it print very much. Cycling jerseys are designed w/3 pockets in the back and the tail of the jersey(s) has 3-4 inches of extra length as compared to the front to compensate for the 'leaned over' position. The clip on the holster works great as a stop to keep the jersey from riding up thereby exposing the CC(clip to outside, holster and pistol inside the waistband). And the 3 pockets of extra material serve to hide the CC very well. One can't tell I'm strapped even if looking right at the gun/holster rig.

It's my intent to get an LCP or P3AT to replace the .25 asa funds allow. They're about the same size as the IT and weigh less as they're polymer as opposed to all steel frame. But, this is all I have for now. So, I asked a gun-expert neighbor of mine and he recommended 45-50 gr FMJ as CC rounds which I've obtained. Like I said it's an 8+1 and 17 rounds is plenty. I carry an extra mag, too.

But, as earlier stated it's already in the plans to upgrade my fair weather cycling CC to a .380 funding allowed. Heck, I'll get a Seecamp .380 if one turns up at a reasonable price...as if. My mention of being a '.25 guy' is in regards to collecting as they're cheap, nobody really wants them and I think they're kinda cool.

Any .25 round with the Hornady XTP bullet at the front is supposed to be superior to .25 ball and other .25 hollow points by a huge margin. Reported reliable expansion to just under .4 and essentially full weight recovery. That aught to rip the guts out of any varmint.

Should make the .25 just about a peer to .380 ball

To the original post, the .25 Raven is pretty much the poster child for the "Saturday Night Special"

Penetration is also important. Most people around here really want the 12" FBI minimum penetration. I'm happy with the 9" US Border Patrol minimum, personally. But if the .25ACP XTP doesn't make at least one of those, I rather doubt that most folks would consider it to be on a peer with .380ACP FMJ which penetrates between 16 and 22 inches.

If you've got an expanding point .25ACP that reliably expands to .4 and penetrates 16 to 22 inches when fired from a typical pocket gun, I really want to know about it!

Peace favor your sword,
Kirk

They are cheap, don't dry fire it or you will break the firing pin. Other than that mine hasn't had any problems. Had mine since I was 10, it still fires just fine. Post up some pictures!
my raven shoots the first round then trigger gets soft doesn’t fire second, you think it could be the firing pin ? i already ordered that and a new mag

Unfortunately Pancho hasn't been around here since 2017. I miss him.

As for 25s, I have a friend that powerlines. Sometimes they have to go out of state on storm duty. Sometimes its to some pretty iffy places.

Due to company policy he was carrying a 25 something or other in his boot. I came up with a P3AT that was passed on to me from another friend. The next time I saw Mike I handed him the 380 & told him "Friends don't let friends carry 25s, put this in you boot & leave the 25 at home, I'll feel a lot better."

Lotta zombies out there & I don't mean zombie threads. ;)
