    Hi Everyone,

Noticed something after shooting at the range on Friday night. What position should the hammer be in if the gun is not cocked? I could have sworn the hammer always flushes with the back of the slide and frame but apparently it disappears to a forward position which I never noticed before. I had, however, noticed that the trigger simply pulls through effortlessly when the gun not cocked which I know is correct. Is the forward hammer position correct?

    Re: Question:  Regarding trigger position

The hammer has 3 positions. they are best observed with the frame off.

    1) the normal is the "reset" with the hammer nearly straight up.
    2) as you pull the trigger, the hammer comes back till it is released to strike the firing pin
    3) then goes towards stiking the firing, it goes past "reset" the other way.

with the hammer is position 3, you can not put the slide back on. you can thumb the hammer back till it resets back at position 1. the recoiling slide resets the hammer. It is NOT cocked
