The fact is, I'm just not crazy about it.

I have the blue finish on my little gun but I'd like to up-grade it to a nicer (black) finish. Has anyone here done that to their P-3AT (let's see your pictures, if so)? Also, where does a person go to get that done and what could I expect in price to do it?

    Any suggestions/ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm gonna have mine a local guy willing to do it at a very fair options are OD green or Dark Earth. I'm goin with the Dark Earth on the slide. Should look pretty cool. I will post pics once I get it back.

For a good black finish you want to parkerize it and go for the manganese or iron phosphate. I have not personally parkerized any of my guns but there is at least one person in the forum who has and provides some insights on how easy it is. Iron and manganese phosphate parkerizing is the only way I know to get the "true black" like some of the bigger name gun companies.

RedHat's parkerizing theread is here with pictures

Also, RH has pointed out that parkerizing before duracoat or gun-kote actually provides a better base for both than blasting alone.
