Anyone have any pictures of PMR 30 with scope, not red dot.:D

Never seen one with a scope. Can't imagine I ever will. They have these really long barrel funny looking guns that are extremely accurate for long distance shooting, I think they call them "rifles" and I've actually seen scopes on lots of those long guns. If you find a picture of a scope on a lightweight PMR, be sure to share the photo with us.

I've seen a number online with red-dot sights but only one had a scope and it looks like a mock-up.

You could go with one of those mounts that clamps on the under side rail then saddles up over the top. If your eyesight requires it, that should work out.
I've seen those, but didn't think of it when I answered in jest. Excellent posthole! As accurate as this pistol is, a scope might be fantastic fun for some very long range shooting. Sand rats beware! ;)

Something like this might work?

That's the kind.

With as many crazy off the wall things I have tried in the past, when someone asks for something different, I try to think of a solution instead of telling them why they don't need it. I've seen people on forums say they want a bolt action 308, and within the first 10 posts, they will be told they should get a 30-06 or 243 instead, or an AR-10. Sometimes a guy knows what he wants and we don't know his reasons. :)

I used to shoot Hunter Pistol silhouette with a scoped 10" Contender. You held the grip and the rifle scope and it was deadly. That would work with a PMR and the mount you found. Put on a 10X rifle scope and a nose guard and get after it.

You are so right. I've got a friend that has a scope he picked up as part of a rifle he wanted and he's saving it for me for a trip to central Oregon this spring. I was going to mount it on my Remington 597 VTR for some fun, but I think I'll buy an adapter and try it on my PMR as well. It will work or it won't, but then I'll know for sure and it's a pretty cheap way to see if it's fun or not. Thanks posthole!

The Ruger guys have been scoping pistols forever because of the design. The Mark III lends itself to it really well.

The problem with a rifle scope is the eye relief is about 3 to 4 inches. That won't work with outstretched arms. You need a pistol scope with long eye relief around 18 inches or more.

At SHOT we saw a mount that would work or you. Mounts from the rail on the bottom like the one posted. If I find a link I will post it as an alternative. It might be less expensive.

Not exactly. I used to use a straight 10X rifle scope to shoot pistol silhouette. It would be on a Contender usually, in 32-20 or 357 or some wildcat of similar power. The PMR would work alright with this method, as long as you don't bang your nose on the slide or catch your beard on fire. Look at the guy in the back of the picture, he is holding a rifle scope on his pistol. It is very steady with a little practice.

That looks like a fun gun to shoot... I can see how you could get away with the eye relief on that. =)

So, resurrecting an older post...

Long time fan of Kellgren's designs, and I own several keltecs and pre-keltecs. So, when I first heard about the PMR-30, I got all giddy...Now for the meat and potatoes of the post.

I bought a PMR-30 with the intent of finding a range gun. Something cheap, and fun to shoot. I don't backpack much, and have other 'survival' style pieces...so my pure intent was a range gun. After hearing about how accurate the thing was I thought "Lets put it to the test!"

So, universal underside scope mount, or install a top plate and mount something. I didn't like the idea of adding weight to the slide, so I went with the universal underside mount like some of the above images. This let me toss on a 2x long relief hand gun scope, and...oh man, that thing is accurate.

While the piece now lives in the 'realm of ridiculous', and I have to purchase a new case for it...it is breath taking to shoot. Exactly as I imagined.

20$ or less mount + 70$ or less scout scope = worth it (for a range gun)
