Yeah all you would need is a different barrel and maybe a different spring.
If you could find a barrel blank you might be able fabricate your own.

I already tried the .17 HMR in the PMR & a Ruger Single Six - it fired, would not cycle and in the Single Six with the .22WMR cylinder all cases spilt of course. I do not recommend trying this - it was a question I had 3 years ago and it was answered.
