I am currently testing Aguila .22 Sniper Subsonic rounds in my PLR-22. These carry a huge 60 grain slow moving bullet that seems to be married to a .22 short casing. This enables them to be the same length and form factor as a standard .22lr round. These are advertised to go downrange at 900 fps. So far, not only are the vastly quieter (though still very audible), but at 100 yards or less, seem to be amazingly accurate considering the differences between this and my regular cartridge (shown at right), the Winchester 36 grain, 1280 fps, white box, "235's". Also I will say that so far I have encountered no FTF/FTE problems. Though I will get back to you with more info on this as I continue the test. As you can see, as of June 24, 2020, the 235's are costing me $12.99 for 235 rounds, but not seen, in the price on the Aguila's, which I am getting for $6.99 for 50 rounds. The original intent for this round is a slow heavy varmint round for larger animals like raccoons. We shall see how those work out. I shall also note that my PLR-22 is brand new, and freshly cleaned and lubed. Let me know how your choice of subsonic rounds are working, or how these are working for you.
