What kind of handguard is that? A shotgun slide?
Yes - the one in Post #100 is a factory Remington 870 forend, that's been shortened (at the muzzle end), had a slot cut for the front sight tower, and had a bit shaved off the ribs inside the chamber end.

Some forends do not need to be shortened; the one below is also Remington & uses the muzzle device (plus a half inch ID washer) as the handguard retainer.

Obviously, you still have to make a cut for the front sight...

The one below is my current favorite: an unmodified Winchester 1200 (or 1300?) 6" wood forend. It's a bit short, so I made a spacer to fit between it & the Kel-Tec handguard nut...

Decided to do away with the handguard nut, and use a different muzzle device to retain the handguard...

Well my little plr has evolved yet again. Now it currently has an AK-47 forward grip, a side folding apparatus with a brace and a blackout Solutions trigger Fire Group assembly.
