Took my PF9 to the range. It's now OUT of my carry rotation.

After the 2nd mag, I started getting mag drops. I think the problem is that I have the pinkie extensions and the old plastic mag catch. Under recoil the mag pulls hard against my pinkie. I think it's stripped the plastic mag catch. I'm gonna have to order one of the steel one from Kel Tec and review how to change it out. :(

It's a pretty easy fix. If you have some small needle nose pliers and a pick you don't have to remove the frame. Just wear glasses, the spring popped out and hit me right in the eyeball once.

wore mine out....it's an easy fix. That metal isn't meant to be slapped home aggressively. Press the mag release in while inserting and you'll get plenty of life out of your next one.

I've always pressed in the mag release button when I inserted a new mag. I just wore it out through use.

I believe that having the pinkie extensions accelerated the wear. Under recoil, the handgun rocks backwards, rotating at the web of my hand (pretty normal for a handgun under recoil). But my lower hand grip is on that pinkie extension and pulling downward against it during recoil. That put a lot of additional stress on the magazine catch, particularly when considering that the magazine body is steel and the catch is plastic, which caused it to, over time, shave it down.

There's a chance that if I swapped the pinkie extensions back to the flat-bottom base-plates, that the problem would be resolved, but only temporarily so. Better to replace the catch, imo.
