This light striker fire piece is a great weapon to have, and it is one of the smaller firearms that can fire standard 9mm ammo. But this is not exactly a pistol you can conceal in your front pocket. If you want a more concealable weapon, you may want to stick with the pocket-based P-3AT.

Features

It is a piece that has been around since 2006, and is considered the lightest and flattest 9mm pistol on the market. It has an aluminum frame, with a parkerized, blue-steel chrome barrel. Its polymer frame explains the lightness, and it is not bad in price, being up to $300 in price. Because of the lightness of the gun, you may feel the recoil more than other pistols, but the kickback is nothing major from a gun marketed as a light weapon. This is a gun for those who want a light, conceal-carry weapon, and it is a prime choice among law enforcement officials and civilians. The hammer does not protrude from the rear, so as not to snag for withdraw, and the slide release is convenient for a right-handed shooter.

There are slight variations from the P-11 model, such as the new design in the rear adjustable sight, with an Allen wrench provided for adjustment. There is also an extended base for the magazine clip for a comfortable grip, and you'll get an extension floor plate with purchase.

The PF-9 borrows from the P-3AT and P-11 models. It is identical to the size of the P-11, being 4.3 inches in height and .88 inches in width, and the barrel length is 3.1 inches. When unloaded, it is 12.7 oz. and 2.8 oz. when loaded. The overall length of the piece is 5.85 inches. The trigger pull is 5 lbs. and you'll get 7 rounds in the magazine, with an additional bullet in the chamber. Kel-Tec also says the PF-9 will accept +p ammunition, but in limited quantities. The PF-9 also borrows from the P-3AT with a shorter trigger system, extraction system and hammer block.

The under barrel is a standard MIL-STD-1913 picatinny rail, with one forward locking notch for a flashlight or laser. You'll also get a locked-breech system that absorbs the shot through a spring rather than the frame of the gun, and it will help in eliminating jams. Some may have a problem with the long double-action trigger pull, which can place the index finger too close to the trigger guard, especially if you have larger hands, but this is something that requires some minor adjustment.

Overall, this is another innovative piece from Kel-Tec, and one that will not disappoint those looking for a trusty conceal-carry weapon.
