Woke up today and when i pulled my .380 out of holster, the one slide of the slide was loaded with rust and part of the blueing was messed up. Even the screws that hold the crimson trace laser had rust on it. So its boxed up and will be sent to jack to nickel plate it along with my p40 slide.

Aw don't be so hard on yourself. Some folks have higher(or lower) ph than others and can make even dirt rust.

My shirts all rot off at the neck/collar area from my sweat. So Jack Fuselier gets my business for plating.

For anyone who has employed Jack, did the process go smoothly, what was the turn around time and how satisfied were you with the results?

I'm considering sending mine in before something like this occurs. And my brother just had something like this happen to his P3AT so he too is considering Jack.

TIA, and my condolences to the OP, princemorr2003. :(

The turn around time for me was 2 weeks to the day. Everything went very smooth and I'm totally satisfied with Jack's work.

Ya know...I need to take a picture of my 3AT since plating...but here is a pic of my PF9:

The plating looks a bit yellow in the pics...more silver in reality.

    From Jack

Dan, there is no current turnaround time. I am running the
computer on a generator and we may not have water or electric
power here for two weeks. Wait until the wreckage of the
hurricane is cleaned up. Regards, Jack F

Until Jack can deal with it Dan, try this. Take some 000 steel wool & dampen it with oil of some sort. lightly scrub your steel parts to remove the rust. This should take the rust off & not damage the blueing too much. Then keep it well oiled until you can get it plated.

Silicone cloths will give you an extra layer of protection too.

I'm one of them. I get titanium eye glass frames, because all others seem to dissolve in my sweat.

Apparently you can add me to the club. I actually don't sweat much, but when I do apparently it is military grade corrosive. :-[

I am gonna call the Credence Clearwater Refinishers tomorrow and make sure the $39 is slide AND barrel and if not how much more for barrel. I will repost with what they say so you all know. That is unless one of you used them already and knows?
