My buddy told me that my Sub 2000 is "over modified," as it was designed to be a pure, lightweight, and no frills carbine that occupies a small space and is easily deployable.

I responded by telling him that as long as I can still fold it into a small, easily concealed package, then all I've done is improve the weapon for my desired uses and need. The only thing that really adds anything to the footprint is the red dot, and that is easy enough to remove. What are your thoughts?

I agree with your buddy. I do not understand "ruining" the gun. There are plenty of other platforms better suited for the results you appear to want. But it's you gun ruin away.......

I have the same setup as you, but in a gen 2. I really wanted to make a mag holder like 3wbdriver, but then I couldn't get it in my backpack.

I agree, if I ever had the extra funds, or if I find a super cheap deal, if get another and leave it pretty stock, besides maybe the earley handguard stabilizers and a flashlight, but as everyone said, all we'd need to do is remove the optic and it's pretty much stock.

Maybe your buddy is just jealous. The Sub 2000 is a fun platform, so just have fun with it. He with the most and bestest toys wins.

I generally treat people nice, but when someone tells me that the stuff I paid for to do WHAT I WANT with doesn't like it, I usually ask them when they bought MY gun. Or suggest they pound sand. But I really am usually more tactful than that.

The Space ModulatOr began as a project to simply add a red dot sight almost 10 years ago when there was ZERO aftermarket for the Sub2K. It snowballed because when I would finish one part I would find something else that looked like it might work better. I was very pleased with what it finally became, and all of the applications - with the possible exception of the dual mag mounts - were done with a practical purpose in mind. It did become a bit of a running joke in here, but I wouldn't change a thing about it. And it did sort of inspire the Sub Porn Picture thread. And people who don't like it can lump it.....

I econo-modded mine and I love it! Laser, Light, Red Dot, Foregrip, Sling, Rails, front blade replacement. It's not THAT much heavier, still folds, still short, just a tic wider and low budget, what's not to love?

LOL. Hey its your firearm. Do what you feel is adequate to fill the role its intended for. If the upgrades work for you and you like them then who cares what anyone else thinks. When the you know what hits the fan and your counting on that firearm to protect life and limb its you who are utlizing it, not your buddy.

I prefer mine (all firearms) simple. However, the only mods that I try to discourage are those made by newbies that haven't fired theirs yet.

Of course a person has to make their own decisions about what is important. When they ask a question I assume they want real opinions. Myself a range toy is open to pretty much anything. A gun intended for serious use.....K.I.S.S.

Wow, looks almost like mine. How do you like that Vortex Prisom scope? I just put one on my SBR. It's the 1X. Added a QD riser to it instead of the riser that came with it. Like it alot.

I also have the 1x Spitfire on mine. Haven't gotten a chance to shoot out and not sure if it will stay on there or go to my AR, but I like how it's still pretty small and light.

I do like the Vortex Spitfire. I was considering getting a lower price point Bushnell for the Sub 2K, but I saw the Vortex go on sale at a great price around Christmas time and jumped on it. It was only $50 more than the Bushnell, and with the prism optic and Vortex's reputation, it seemed like a no brainer.

The sub 2000 is a great little platform for mods of your liking. I love my gen 2 but it is far from perfect. In my humble opinion the only way you ruin the gun is if after the mods, it won't fold up. Everyone I let use it at the range loves the laser, red dot and 700 lumin light. What more could a little gun want, a gun needs it's bling.

That's like saying "too buttery" or "too chocolaty."
There is no such thing.

But in full disclosure all I have on mine is a foregrip, sling, tube cover, and bolt buffer. Now that I wrote that all out it seems that I've done a lot.

Guys...let's try to keep on track, I know it ain't easy. The OP is asking about Sub2000's and mods to them.
