As most know, the Charlie folder was designed for metal magazines, and won't completely fold over polymer mags such as P-mags. I remember mentions of widening the gap in the stock to fold over the polys; how well did that work out?
I once heard it said that Dremel is an Italian word meaning "watch me screw this up". When using a Dremel, proceed with caution.I had a friend with a Dremel widen the slot as much as he dared and still had no relief with my Magpul mags. I have found one polymer brand that DOES work but wouldn't you know it, I've forgotten the brand name and as I write this, I and and my SU find ourselves in different cities. Will have to get back to you on that. The pic below is the 20 rounder in place. It loads through and ejects just fine from both stock locks.
They do indeed, as well as other metal mags. The GI mags are supposed to work.
I have a Lancer 20rd; it locks and functions fine, but my unmodified Charlie stock still does not close around it.The magazine shown is a Lancer AWM 20-rounder in FDE. Gives me something to work with as soon (if I thought I needed it) right out of the bag as it fits in the bag as is.
Thanks!I do not think widening the gap in the C stock is a good idea.
Worse case is a new stock probably only cost 80 bucks.
Maybe just buy a few metal mags.
If you are desperate. Mail me your P mags and I will swap them out for lightly used metal mags.
I think that is probably for the best. Thanks!I have picked up some polymer magazines and if I use them, I'll just forego folding the rifle, and/or save them for my AR.
Especially since GI/metal mags have been problem-free. :rayof:I think that is probably for the best.
