I was browsing my local gun store today and found a new SU-22CA for $279 and thought it was a decent price, so I picked it up. I bought my first P11 in 1999, and my PLR-22 in 2009, and finally have a new SU-22 to match.

So, I thought I'd come here and post, but geesh, it's quiet in this sub-forum, eh? Not much activity.

Anyway, the dark magazine for the SU-22 looks different, but it's a Mad Dog. My other mags for my PLR-22 are clear Mad Dog, but now I have plenty of mags for this new purchase, including a couple of drums.

I'm trying to figure out what sort of hard case I can build up to carry both the pistol and the rifle, plus 6 30-rounds, plus the two drums. Would be sweet.

Congrats on the purchase, and that does look like a great price!

I love my SU-22. It's been shot so much (before 22LR ammo was scarce) that I've worn it out! I think I need to replace a set of springs, but I can't complain. It's been great, very reliable, and it really likes CCI Blazer, almost all Federal, the more expensive CCI ammo, and lots of other ammo I've tried. About the only ammo it doesn't like is the loosely roll crimped Remington ammo, and after several thousand rounds it started shooting Remington Golden Bullets half decently.

It's starting to look like 22LR ammo will not drop back to half reasonable prices before the start of the next big ammo shortage. :( It seems that the situation is even worse for 22 WMR ammo. I'd love to buy a CMR-30 but it's difficult to justify when the ammo costs 4X what it costs me to reload 9mm.

Given how fun the SU-22 is, I'm always surprised at how quiet this forum is.

CMR-30 would be awesome!

Thanks for your comments. I'm loving the SU-22CA. Haven't figured out yet if I want to replace the stock with a pistol grip. I really want the pistol grip, but then it doesn't fold all of the way. Decisions, decisions! I'll see if I can get some photos today. A thread is useless without photos. :)

I replaced the underfolding Charlie stock on my SU-16 with the AR pistol grip stock. I missed the ability to fold the SU-16, but I loved the solid feel of the AR stock. It made for a great functional equivalent to a lightweight, low cost, gas piston operated AR-15.

I put the Charlie stock on my SU-22 and I love being able to fold it. The light duty underfolding stock seemed more appropriate to the little 22LR SU-22.

Makes sense. For the reason you mention, I'm still debating about the pistol grip. Eventually, I want to get both a PLR-15 and an SU16, since now I have both the PLR-22 and the SU-22.

Maybe I need to get the SU-22CA out to shoot to see if I like it that way.
