Freezers are great when combined with a FoodSaver vacuum bagger. We buy almost all of our meats for 1/2 off or close to it, vacuum bag and date 'em, and set up a FIFO system for the meats and save a fortune.

The latest such deal was yesterday, a "buy one, get one free" on pork tenderloins at Albertsons. We stocked up, as usual.

Freezer horror story of mine ..took my fiance on a 4 day trip to nyc last April when I returned my garage door wouldn't open. Went in the house power was on but not in the garage. Then I noticed Huge pine in the back yard blown to pieces by a lightening bolt. Gasped and checked my freezer in the garage which had 2 deer cut up ..deer sausage , deer burger, backstraps, some Alaskan salmon and some other freezer odds and ends all thawed and room temperature. Good trip but that was a very bad day.
