Just bought a p380. What do I do before shooting it? Fluff/buff,what does that entail? Can I shoot without doing it?

Of course you can shoot it without an F&B! I personally always take my new guns down and clean them before I go shooting though. ;-)

+1 I always do the same.

The F&B just helps with the break in period of the pistol, also it may work a bit smother after a F&B.
If you haven't found it yet Golden Loki's page is full of great info.

How many rounds without a F&B is a good break in?

Depends I guess? But I'd say in the 200 to 500 range? :-/

  6. I always do some level of a fluff and buff on most new auto loaders.

Even with the fluff and buff--- I would not trust my life on an auto loader until I had AT LEAST 200 rounds down range without ANY malfunction.

Kel-Tec has noted that on page 12 of the 3AT Manual:
Proper function of your P-3AT is directly related to maintenance and care, and to the
ammunition you use. As with any firearm, a break-in period may be required (50-100
rounds). During this break-in period, some failure to feed and failure to eject or extract
    malfunctions may occur.

To each their own. Before taking any new gun to the range, I do a basic cleaning on it. Nothing extra, nothing special. Not my KTs nor any other gun.

But I never, ever trust/carry one until it's had 200 plus rounds of FMJ, and then 50 or so rounds of my chosen JHP through it.

    Does a F&B hurt? Nope. I just don't feel it's necessary.

I'd say just shoot it! I did clean and lube it before I went to the range. But nothing else. And it's never failed me.
