On my RFB, I had an issue with it going into battery after about 2-3 rounds on every magazine I have. I cleaned it and tried it again today, same problem. I have never set the gas since I got it. I did not think gas would do this. So, I set the gas as instructed in Chad Enos' video. Set it to 13 from closed and started from there. I wish I had counted the clicks open from there, but I didn't. I estimate 10-12. Works great now.
Glad you got it working. You may need to tweak the gas based on load and/or atmospheric conditions. I find that the gas is correctly set when it just begins to lock open on an empty mag. Add one or two more clicks from there to ensure reliability.
Thanks, that is what I did after the bolt locked back. I added 4 more clicks according to the video. Just gave it a good cleaning. Very happy. My RDB has had no malfunctions, but I may go ahead and adjust the gas on it too.
My RDB suppresses very well, much better than the RFB. I adjust the gas on that based on whether I have the silencer attached and what load I'm running. It's one of the smoothest and softest shooting rifles I own. I highly suggest adjusting yours to the specific ammo you're using to ensure reliability as well as to minimize wear and tear on the action.
I shot the RDB right after adjusting the gas. What a difference! And, a good point about wear and tear, the RDB might be overgassed and cycling harder than it needs to.
