Its not bad on weight at 1lb1oz (17oz)
Thats the same as my Burris AR3x32 with a QD acog mount (This is on my RFB).
Also a few ounces lighter than another prism optic I run (sometimes on my RDB) the NcStar Delta 4x30mm (20oz).But its also qd.

Received an email from KelTec CS. They didn't ask any questions, just said to ship it back. Now I have to go the shop I bought it from since I can't find my receipt....

I sent mine back; complaining about the accuracy. My accuracy from the bench @ 30 yds, which was the range they used, was 0.81" for 10 shots. That would equal 2.7" @100yds c -c.
Their group was o.83" for 8 equaling 2.8" @ 100yds not counting a 9th shot flyer. I fired two 10 shot groups from my light weight barrel AR ;which averaged 0.43"= 1.4" @ 100yds. I fired another 10 shot group with the Kel Tec @ 30yds 0.775" which would be about 2.5 "@100yds.

My shots were all Hornady Frontier ;which was my best load when testing. Testing involved 6 different sessions involving 305 rounds & 11 different loads mostly 55gr and 1ea 3 shot groups with .62gr, 70 gr, and 77gr bullets. The rifle did not seem to like the heavier bullets; which should shoot fine in the 1:7 twist. I will try more of the later starting with a clean bore.
The bore was cleaned between each session but the heavies were at the end of the last session. The barrel was allowed to cool between groups.

Kel Tec said they could not fix my accuracy problem; so that would lead me to think they do not expect accuracy any better than this.

For Just 3 shot groups I'm seeing much smaller than 3 inch groups

(Keep in mind..NONE of this is MATCH AMMO). If you want tiny groups start with Match ammo Not the cheap stuff as represented here.

I typically don't shoot closer than 50 yards and have a planned test (For the RDB accuracy thread) with Frontier ammo and Black Hills 50gr Vmax with Bullet weights of 55-68gr (Frontier)..This will be 5 shot groups.

Most are in different places so I can easily mark my offset. You might notice other larger holes in some of the targets..I was probably sighting in a 30 caliber rifle that day too.
(Its a public range and I have to wait till they change targets to take pictures otherwise I use my phone through the spotting scope..)

But here are some examples from my rifle with mostly 55gr grainers.

I went to the range today wanting to do a shoot out between my Ar and my RDB. Due to Covid. They weren't renting spotting scopes and after my initial zeroing with the RDB and AR @ 25yards I had a clean target at 100 yards (only shot the RDB)..So I re-zeroed at 50yards and both shot from there as it was easier to pick up the groups with my 308's scope.

This is a public range and they dont change targets often. So all of my shots are on the same target.

Heres what I used.
Hornaday Match BTHP in 55gr, 62gr, 68gr and 75gr with some XM855 green tip to make sure I was on paper. All were 5 round shots. I chose this because its fairly inexpensive ammo at around 9$ to 12$ a box in my area.

The AR is free floated and I discovered, after shooting these groups, the top RDB rail had gotten extremely loose which might explain some things later in my range trip..

***Both guns are 1:9 Twist.***

AR vs RDB17
55gr 0.98” 1.05”

62gr 1.54” 1.68”

68gr 1.61” 1.05”

75gr 1.05” 2.23”

xm855 1.25” 2.46

Ive shot these guns before at 100 yards and I have not seen the MOA listed even thou I know we double the group size at 100..Added my first 5 round comparison with the 68gr Frontier @ 100 yards.

People need to know your RDB is 1:9 , if it's the same one you've said was 1:9.
What is the Stag twist rate?
Good effort reporting all this data but ppl can't expect 1:9 results from 55gr in their 1:7s. And you aren't getting 1:7 groups others are getting with 65-70 gr.
Petty good results over all.
Sorry about your rail loosening. I wonder if this happens from the gas block thermal expansion causes the screws to walk out?

The image does state both guns are 1:9.But Ill add it to the write up.

I imagine the thermal expansion is whats causing the screws to walk out..I also never used red locktite on the front screws..Fixing that now.

I phoned Keltec and asked what kind of accuracy I could expect from the RDB-C & that maybe my expectations were too high. The person I talked to said he routinely got 1.25" groups @ 100 yds with 55 grn FMJ. I expect they were using Fiocchi ammo as that was what was used on the target they sent back with my rifle. I sent two targets back when I returned the rifle again to show I could actually shoot. I think I got a bad barrel. Still waiting for the rifle.
With 3 of my 5.56 AR's I routinely get 1.5" @ 100yds with most bulk 55gr ,FMJ ammo & 1" or less with varmint ammo. As for barrel twist ,I can't see much difference between my 1:9 and the others with 1:7 except my 16",1:9 will not stabilize 70 or 77gr bullets.

I had checked everything for tightness to make sure that was not the problem on the RDB-C.

Where are these targets.I gotta see em.

Also the (2) 1:9 guns i shot (Rdb17 and 16in Ar15) stabilised the 75gr just fine (keyholeing woulda been evident if it didnt.) Actually..My Ar nearly had the best group with the 75gr target (4rounds touching..5th blew it)

Are you sure they are 1:9 barrels? The only 1:9 barrel that grouped well with heavy bullets is a 20" on a Savage bolt gun.

No key holing and yea both are 1:9 (Stamped that way on both barrels). Key holing would happen as soon as 25 yards..

My target with the 75gr target with the RDB id say is suspect as that was my final shots before i realized I had ALOT of movement in its rail..But my 75gr target with the AR is very good. (again..I did post it)
I will be reshooting the 75gr and 62gr shots on my RDB and AR @ 100 (now that I found my top rail ridiculously loose)
