I sent my Sub 2K back to Kel Tec because of the front site problem. It shot great for 200 rounds and then the front site started slipping. While it was there I asked them to switch the grip from a G17 to a G19.
They did all that fast and free of charge, but now it won't lock when closed. I'm so mad! How could they check it over and still send it back to me with that new problem?
The problem is that it won't fold all the way so that the spring loaded locking mechanism on the butt stock will start to push back but the folding action stops there and the top rail won't finish passing the spring loaded locking tab to allow it to snap forward to lock the gun in the folded position.
Anyone have a similar problem with it not locking?
Thanks!

It might just be some mold flashing that needs to be trimmed. The gen 1 wouldn't always line up perfectly. And some have to manually align it to latch. Maybe the forend needs to be slid back and tightened down. Could have shifted during shipping. Those guys are rough on packages.

same isue

I just got mine back from KT with the exact same issue. I sent it in to have the front sight assembly upgraded to the new design, and it came back with a new front sight assembly, barrel, handguard, and rear sight:confused:

The only thing I can figure is the new handguard sits a little higher, just enough to not allow the gun to fold that last little bit needed to lock. I do have a tacticool bolt tube cover on mine though, and it looks like it may be the culprit. Either way, it locked before I sent it in, and now it doesn't.

I picked up a new Gen 2 last Friday. The first thing I did was remove the latching tab & spring so it will not lock closed. With limited finger dexterity, I just can't get comfortable trying to unlatch without struggling to do so.

My Gen 1 has the latch removed and has never been a problem for me. I prefer it this way.

How they could possibly not do a full function check, especially with a MAJOR feature of this rifle a huge selling point is beyond me. I hope my brand new G2 never has to go in for anything. Seriously? One gets sent back and it comes back not being able to fully fold and lock? Fix one thing but break something else? :(
