Hey folks...just joined...will properly introduce myself in the Welcome Wagon tomorrow but just wanted to show off my new PMR-30 which I purchased last weekend and just picked up tonight and did a little function firing while at the local gun shops indoor range using what ammo the range had available I purchased 2 boxes of 40gr Armscor (I know, I know) and (2) boxes of CCI 30gr V....surprisingly?...from new out of the box this pistol wolfed down both with nary a hiccup...30rds of the armscor I placed center mass and put 20rds in the head using the 30gr CCI V fodder and man do I love this pistol...what a fist full of fun it is.

I wanted one when they first came out and Cocoa, FL is only 100 miles north of me but the demand drove the prices insane...until I saw this one in the case for $539 and my bud at the shop told me if I bought it that day he'd take $50 off....so for $489?...(plus I added a 3rd mag) I grabbed it and thrilled I did! :)

what a sweet shooting little pistol the PMR-30 is! I'm real pleased so far...for the first 50rds anyway! LOL! L8R, Bill. ;)

Welcome. Keep your eyes out for Hornady CD. All I use now. Hard as hell to find. How far south are you? I am in Delray Beach.
Tell me about it...I can't even find Hornady CD on ammoseek...it's like unobtanium...but I can get and am ordering a brick of Hornady 30gr Vmax and a brick of Speer Gold Dot today.

I'm just a bit north of you in Port Saint Lucie.

Fin Feather Fur up here in NE-Ohio routinely stocks the 45 gr. Hornady Critical Defense FXT.

I don't think that they do Internet sales, though. Not sure what would happen if one called them on the phone.....

Thanks...I'll give them a ring!..it's worth a shot! LOL! ;)

PS/EDIT: OkeeDokee...called the Canton store first...they were out but directed me too their Ashland store/warehouse and no dice...he said they normally carry it but the FF&F's have been out of it for a couple months now but thanks for trying to help me find some....heck...at this point?...if I did find any?...I'd be hesitant to shoot it!

I'm liking what I see of the Hornady 30gr Vmax though...looks like a solid runner up...I'll probably stock up on that.

Thanks again, Bill. :)

The VMax is my second choice. Not quite as good at accuracy, but no FTF or FTE. Forgot to mention to follow mag loading instructions. There is another thread here about speed loader. I bought one and they are worth every penny. I always load 25 as one box is two mags.

Thanks...and sounds like I'll be ordering up a speed loader right away...gotta link or addy?

Also?...I'm not objectionable to try some speer gold dot but I am apprehensive about how well they feed with what appears to be a rather large, flat nose area on the bullet itself.

I have a Caldwell Ballistic Precision Chronograph....might be fun to get a bunch of different....but top shelf...types of ammo to compare...though I'm certain many others have probably already done that by now?

Thanks again for letting me know that...as a new PMR-30 owner who can't find the CD fodder anywhere in the nation at the moment I just ordered 1,000rds of the VMax and felt fortunate to nab 20bxs at $15.99ea/.32 cents per round. :)

I have a bit of experience and used to reload 1,000-1,500 per week on my Hornady Pro-7 progressive press a couple decades ago when I was big into I.P.S.C. and the pointy noses on the Vmax rds is what I found attractive considering the PMR-30's rep for being a finicky eater...I also dug the performance of them out of a PMR-30 in this vid...

anyways?...Thanks Briggs...your words gave me the confidence to go ahead and order the amount I did and I'll save the rest of my personal history for the welcome wagon deal...maybe we'll shoot together someday since you're only a short ways away...heck...for all I know we already may have as I used to compete in Lauderdale frequently years ago. :)

Resistance is futile...

:) I am also a NEW owner of a PMR-30... it will ship to my FFL dealer in a couple days.

Advertised as the NEWEST version from Kel-Tec, and it includes a slim line hard case.

Nothing fancy, just basic black to match my black CMR.
