Hello. I just purchased a keltec su16b. Pretty sure it was a b. Anyway i took it out shooting the other day with a friend who also shoots 223. I was going to let him keep the brass for reloading. But when we picked it up, every case had its neck mashed slightly. This doesnt seem normal and kind of concerns me. I cant figure out whats up with it. The only thing that makes sense is as soon as the neck is free of the chamber, the extractor spring starts to throw the brass but the locking lugs on the receiver are still in the way. So it bashes the neck into the lug before the brass is thrown from the bolt. Is this whats happening and is it a problem? Thanks for your time.

This is really common on many guns and is not a serious problem. It generally means the recoil system is slightly out of whack -- cured by shooting it, more often than not, in the case of a new gun. The brass will reshape to be reloaded fine for the most part, unless it splits in the die.

Mine did it too...for the first few hundred rounds, I think. It just slowly went away, I didn't even notice exactly when it did.

Picked up my brass and the dent had gone away...who knows?

Can you tell where it is hitting the receiver. Is it smacking into the charging handle?

I mention the charging handle because that brass looks a little like some 223 brass from my M4.

If so you might consider putting a piece of sticky back velcro loops on the charging handle.
