Well, I'm back. Back to owning a Kel Tec, this time a P3AT.

I started with a Kel-Tec P40, bought new back in 98-99ish. Did the F&B, cleaned it up and carried it for a few years. I sold it and have carried a Glock since then.

I have wanted a true pocket pistol for a while now. Something for those times when I just cant wear a shirt untucked, or a coat. I went to the Gun Show this weekend at Market Hall in Dallas and came home with a new P3AT. I fondled some Makarovs, and other Pocket guns like the NAA, and even Rugers clone of Kel Tec. But, obviously I chose the original.

I'll be doing the F&B this week, and maybe even the detailed version. I am seriously thinking about taking the blued slide(after the F&B) and coating it with some of Norells Moly Resin. I have the stuff and an airbrush.

As far as breaking it in after the F&B, I have a 100rd box of Winchester white box 95gr FMJ, and a 100 round box of Remington 105gr HP. We'll see how it likes that and go from there.

My one question is this. Does everyone carry them in a holster in the pocket. Does anyone carry it by just slipping it into the front pocket of your pants? Would that be 'safe'? Any other issues to see to about pocket carry?

Thanks, I look forward to being back.

Welcome back.

Holstered
You should always carry in a holster that covers the trigger, much safer that way.
Clip in a pocket works fine for me...it's really up to how you feel.
Yeah I just clip mine in the front of my pants, most however feel that a holster of some sort is the way to go..
I have carried with my clip, and the holster both. I have been using the clip lately. But when not, I take everything out of my right hand front pocket and carry it there. We went to Floida for 14 days at the first on March, I carried it every day in my front pocket or the side pocket of my cargo shorts. No one noticed or said anything. :)
DeSantis and Uncle Mikes Sidekick in the front pocket works for me around the house.

Wilson – who’s a P-11 toter away from home :)
I have been carrying mine the last six months just in my right front pocket which I had dedicated to just that and my clip on Gerber spring loaded knife. Of course I clean it every now and then. NO PROBLEM and I work doing commercial 2-way radio work where I am in some tight places in some different types of positions and again NO PROBLEMS.

I remember some 25 years ago seeing an old man show me his carry .25 Bretta. The end of the barrel was stopped up with pocket lint. When I pointed that out to him, he just blew it out and said, "That's OK, young fellow." Not sure what would have happened if he had touched it off but I do keep mine a tad bit more clean.

Enjoy the new little pocket companion.

I went to the same show Saturday... spent 4 hours there and bought all kinds of things. Anyway, I use an Uncle Mike's SIDEKICK Size 1 for my Kel Tec. It works GREAT.

Welcome back to KTOG!

I never carry with out a holster that covers the trigger.

My Preference is the 5:11 system. The Shirt and Holster.

There are many other options available:

Welcome home.
I tried both systems. I bought a Galco Front Pocket Holster, its a bit stiff ( Horsehide ), then I tried the clip. I liked the holster much better but one that is a bit softer like Galcos Pocket Protector or an Uncle Mikes..
