Hey guys first post here, I can't wait to poke around more.

Anyway I have the opportunity to pick up a gen 1 with red lion rail and other accesories for $450. I really thing I want a gen 2 tho. Do you think the savings/rail are worth it over just getting a gen 2 and going from there? I'm a bigger guy so some of the gen 2 features like the adjustable lop and better release mechanism sound good.

Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance

Just my opinions...I'd go with a Gen2 model over the Gen1, even if it was more money. It's really that big of a change between generations.

Is it a 9 or .40? If it's a 9, might be a good buy considering how tough it is to find a Gen 2 in 9mm, and will run at least $479 from what I've found in searching. It really all depends on how often you'll use it. I just picked up a Gen 2 .40 cal, I don't plan on using it that often and would have preferred to find a used Gen 1, but at $379 new, it's still a good buy. Accessories are cheap. I'd offer $250 for the gun, if you could get it for that, it's a fair deal.

accessories

Whether it's cars, motorcycles, or firearms, I don't care what you paid for accessories. Doesn't increase the value of the original item that much. If YOU like it, then it may be worth it.

But you'll never get it back when you sell it, the next buyer may not care one bit if it's a Red Lion rail or not. Yea, they're pricey, I put one on a PLR-16 way back and it was top quality. But didn't add much to what I eventually got when I sold it.

So if you've got $450 in your pocket I'd recommend the Gen II. If you have to sell it tomorrow I guarantee you'd get more than a gen I. As much as I liked the gen Is I was glad I waited for the gen II.

Maybe it's just me, but the gen I was hard to come by, and was always overpriced when I saw one for sale. But I've seen more gen IIs for sale in the past year than all the gen 1s put together. And none of them are asking the high prices the gen Is were.

I paid $450 new for a basic black 9mm from Palmetto State Armory a few months ago. Maybe I got lucky cause it was the Beretta 92 version which isn't as much in demand, but that was exactly what I was looking for. And they had the black & nickel boron version for $525.
