Nothing new. Nothing secret. Freedom group has a bigazz Booth at shot show and NRA convention. WWW.freedom-group.com
considered them the GM of guns. Many brands one parent company.
Some consumers bemoan the purchase of their favorite company by a conglomerate but that is just business.

More like Fiat than GM (GM partners with companies, Fiat actually buys the companies), but the concept is correct. They are buying up overstretched firearm companies and righting the ship financially (Remington likely would no longer be a functional company if not for Freedom Group).

Good point deadman. GM not the best example.
Remington's CEO is Robert Nardelli, of Homedepot and Chrysler fame.

The only good thing is that the Stephen Feinberg, of Cerberus, is a hunter. Could buying these companies just be a hobby of his?

With all the gov't contracts, and with the consumer demand, its a good time to be in the firearms bu$ine$$. Many are paying way too much to enter or pursue this hobby of ours.

There is a book, "The Peter Principle" written by a Dr. Peters. His primary premis in the book is, "Every one raises to their own level of incompentence."Nardelli is a clueless CEO. He almost ruined Home Depot. Amazing how incompetence rises to the top.
He says that once you get to your level of incompentence, you are usually maintained there by the compentent persons below you doing a good job. He gives several good examples. He says this works except ina structured society such as the military.

Customer service went down due to hiring PT employees that didn't know much about the industry, stock prices didn't go up, and sales (and profits) doubled. Unfortunately, since the customers and shareholders didn't get any love, he ruined the company in their eyes.
