So i picked up a black PMR-30 a few weeks ago. Loved the gun at first sight and as soon as I held it I loved it more.

Bought some CCI 40 grain TMJ and shot the first 50 rounds without a hitch.

Bought some Hornaday V-Max 30 grain and... The gun started choking on this brand and had many failure to feeds and failure to extract. Also of 100 I had 8 flat out duds (yes I spun them and tried again).

If I single fired the Hornaday, only about half would leave the slide locked back. That told me all I needed to know.

Bought some CCI 40 grain JHP and had good luck with this. A few fail to feeds here and there but no real jams. Pull the slide and release and they were good to go.

I believe these probs came more from magazine issues. I took mine apart and found one sticking so I cleaned them both up and fixed the sticking follower. Good to go.

Bought some CCI 40 grain JHP soft points. Went through 50 like butter. No probs whatsoever today.

My failure to extract I believe is the main issue causing the V-Max to fail. Mine drops the spent shell halfway to the extractor, so the 30 grains just don't have the power to help the process.

It will also not extract/eject a round when emptying the gun. It just drops through the grip.

My new extractors will be here Tuesday, so I'll report back when they are installed. I took mine apart Friday and found I did have the older versions, so I'm sure the new one's will fix the problem.

Love this gun and it is so fun to shoot! Buying ammo 200 rounds at a time just ain't enough!

My PMR is past 700 rounds. There have been only a few minor problems with ammo. Armscor USA, with its bare lead tip, has given a few failures to chamber. All CCI, Hornady, Remington, and Federal rounds of various weights and bullet configurations have shot fine. I got a good one. :D

Nice to hear. I went through 250 rounds of CCI 40 grain Sunday without a problem. My parts from Keltec did not show up yesterday thanks to a FedEx eff up, so I haven't installed my new extractors yet.

Will yours eject manually?

rouge66, the only manual ejection I have done in the field is the last round in the chamber. I just loaded 5 rounds and ejection was sluggish but successful. When removing the magazine as directed in the owner's manual the remaining round in the chamber ejected with vigor! (Edited for clarification)

Thanks 357, that's what I wanted to hear. Glad yours is working! Looking forward to installing my new extractors (which finally arrived today).

Good to hear 34, glad yours is doing well!

Love this freaking gun!

Well, no luck. Installed the new extractors last night, which were the newer versions (slightly different then the old ones). New extractors, new spring.... nada, same problem.

The round will snap into the extractors and hold tight, but 3/4 of the way back they just "let go".

The new one's are a little better, as they do hold 3/4 of the way instead of halfway...

To be continued....
